    摘要: In a starter, to improve a heat dissipation performance, an axial length from the end of a starter housing fit into a clutch housing to a starter installation surface of the clutch housing is set to be longer than an axial length from the end of a starter motor not fit into the clutch housing to the starter installation surface. Alternatively, the exposed surface area of the starter housing fit into the clutch housing is set to be larger than the exposed surface area of the portion of the starter housing not fit into the clutch housing and the starter motor. With this configuration, the starter housing can be effectively cooled by whirling air flow in the clutch housing.

    摘要: When an inverter or a coil set of one system in a motor drive apparatus having two systems fails, a power supply relay of a failing system interrupts power supply and a control circuit gradually reduces a current supply limitation value of a normal system to zero. Then when a steering torque becomes greater than a predetermined threshold value, the control circuit increases the current supply limitation value by a predetermined amount. By reducing the current supply limitation value to zero once and then gradually increasing the current supply limitation value to generate steering assist torque, a driver will be caused to sense changes in the steering torque and surely notice occurrence of failure.

    摘要: In a torque sensor, a torque signal and a monitoring signal have values between a first lower limit and a first upper limit. A limiting section changes the torque signal to a second lower limit when the torque signal is equal to or less than the second lower limit that is greater than the first lower limit, and changes the torque signal to a second upper limit when the torque signal is equal to or greater than the second upper limit that is less than the first upper limit. When abnormality has occurred in the torque signal, an output section transmits a first fault notification signal that is a value between the first and second lower limits or a second fault notification signal that is a value between the first and second upper limits.

    摘要: When failure of an inverter or a coil set of one system of a motor drive apparatus having two systems, is detected, a power supply relay of the failing system is interrupted. At the same time, a control circuit sets a same maximum current limitation value as set before detection of failure. When an IG switch is in an ON-state and a steering toque detection value exceeds a predetermined threshold value thereafter, a vibration component, which has a predetermined amplitude and frequency, is added to a current command value so that a steering wheel is vibrated in a direction of rotation so that a driver is cautioned to notice the failure surely.

    摘要: When an inverter or a coil set of one system fails in a motor drive apparatus having two power supply systems, a power supply relay of a failing system is turned off. In this case, while a travel speed detection value is less than a predetermined threshold value, current supply to a motor by the other system operating normally is stopped to thereby stop driving of the motor and generate no steering assist torque. Thus, a driver will be caused to surely notice occurrence of failure.

    摘要: In a motor drive apparatus having two power supply systems for a motor, output phase currents supplied from inverters and detected by current sensors are added. Sums of the phase currents are fed back to a 3-2 phase conversion section and converted into a d-axis current and a q-axis current. A 2-3 phase conversion section outputs the same three-phase voltage command values to the inverters. Thus, the 3-2 phase conversion section and the 2-3 phase conversion section are both reduced to 1 in number, which is less than 2 of the inverters.

    摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide an electrical power steering system for a vehicle, in which an abnormal condition of a motor current detecting device for a motor current is detected with high precision. A power steering control unit calculates a target assist torque based on a steering signal from a steering sensor and calculates a motor driving current based on such target assist torque. The control unit then calculates a difference between a motor current in a normal condition and a detected motor current, so that the difference is used as an offset correction amount. The control unit further calculates an upper and a lower limit of the offset correction amount depending on a detected temperature of the motor current detecting device. The control unit finally determines that the motor current detecting device is not in a normal condition, when the offset amount is not within a range between the upper and lower limits of the offset correction amount.
