    摘要: An actuator unit for an ink jet print head in which pressure generating chambers 30 and 31 are arranged in two linear arrays with a pitch P1 between the chambers in each linear array. The pressure generating chambers in one linear array are shifted by an amount equal to 1/4 of P1 with respect to the pressure generating chambers in the other linear array. A plurality of actuator units may be connected to a single flow path unit of the ink jet print head, and the nozzle openings in one actuator unit may be shifted by 1/2 of P1 with respect to the nozzle openings in another actuator unit, or they may be aligned. Various arrangements of the nozzle openings, the pressure generating chambers, and the actuator units can be employed to vary the resolution and to print different colors.

    摘要: An ink jet printer head includes a spacer including pressure generating chambers continuous to nozzle openings, ink supply paths, and reservoirs, a cover member for covering the pressure generating chambers in a sealing fashion, and pressure generating means for generating pressure in the pressure generating chambers in accordance with print data. In processing a silicon single-crystal substrate vertically oriented in (110) by anisotropic etching process, one of the walls of a path hole for forming a pressure generating chamber is aligned with one of the walls of a path hole for forming a reservoir. Walls defining the path hole for forming a pressure generating chamber, which are located in the vicinity of a nozzle opening, are connected to each other at an obtuse angle. As a result, the ink supply path serving as a narrow path for ink flow and the pressure generating chamber are formed as smooth flow paths. The walls in an area in the vicinity of the nozzle opening where ink tends to stay are substantially equally distanced from the nozzle opening. A smooth flow of ink is ensured.

    摘要: An actuator unit for a laminated ink jet recording head includes: a first cover member for forming a vibrating member having piezoelectric vibrators on a surface thereof; a spacer for forming pressure generating chambers with a surface thereof sealed by the first cover member; a second cover member having ink jetting outlets and ink flowing inlets, each ink jetting outlet causing the corresponding pressure generating chamber to communicate with a corresponding nozzle opening of a flow path unit at one end of the pressure generating chamber, each ink flowing inlet causing the corresponding pressure generating chamber to communicate with a common ink chamber of the flow path unit at the other end of the pressure generating chamber. The actuator unit is prepared by laminating and fixing the first cover member, the spacer and the second cover member. A pitch at which the pressure generating chambers are arranged is set to a value equal to or smaller than a pitch at which the nozzle openings are arranged; widths of partition walls on outermost ends of pressure generating chambers located on the outermost ends are set to a value equal to or greater than a width of a partition wall defining adjacent pressure generating chambers and equal to or smaller than 1/2 of the nozzle opening arrangement pitch. An increase in the distance between the adjacent pressure generating chambers at the contact line between two actuator units is set to within a range of values substantially equal to the width of the partition wall.

    摘要: An ink jet printing device supplies first and second signals to cause a pressure generating chamber to jet out ink droplets. A third signal is applied to the pressure generating chamber to effectively attenuate the kinetic energy of the meniscus and to hold the meniscus at a position suitable for jetting out the next ink droplet to provide a stable print output. Also, an ink-jet recording apparatus is provided with a control means for controlling the timing of the start of the second signal and the timing of the start of the third signal according to the environmental temperature. In the ink-jet recording apparatus, the discharge speed of ink drops is made constant by regulating the start time of the second signal so as to make constant the drawing position of a meniscus when the ink drops are discharged. Further, the pressure generating chamber is expanded again by applying the third signal at the time the vibration of the meniscus generated by the discharge of the ink drops is moved closest to the pressure generating chamber, so that the kinetic energy of the meniscus moving to the nozzle can effectively be attenuated.
