Abstract:
A finger-type blood pressure monitor which is smaller for portability (when not in use). The monitor has a foldable finger cuff which can be stored in a compact case when it is not in use.
Abstract:
A valve drive system including mechanisms for varying the timing and lift of intake and exhaust valves in internal combustion engines. In one embodiment, an intake camshaft support member and an exhaust camshaft support member are separately mounted to pivot about axes relative to intake and exhaust rocker arms. The support members include concentric mountings along which the support members together with the cams mounted therein move to selectively advance and retard the valve timing and vary the valve lift. In other embodiments, the camshaft support is unitary in construction for both the intake and exhaust valve train. A variety of adjustments are possible with the several configurations including intake valve closure before bottom dead center during partial load operation.
Abstract:
A vehicle engine, particularly adapted for motorcycle application, includes a housing structure in which the cylinder block, the crankcase and the transmission case are integrally formed and openings are provided in separate, angularly displaced walls of the housing for accessing the crankcase and transmission case respectively to permit the crankshaft and the transmission to be independently installed or demounted with respect to each other. Also, the detachable cover for closing one of the side openings of the housing is formed as a stopper for preventing axial disengagement of the starter apparatus ring gear from the crankcase.
Abstract:
A breather passage is provided to perform breathing function for both two casings, one being a first casing housing therein a power-transmission means and the other being a second casing housing therein a gear-transmission mechanism. The breather passage is defined between interfacing surfaces of a main body and a cover those providing the second casing. A gasket is interposed between the main body and the cover so as to devide the breather passage into two passages. The breather passage has one end formed with a first breather hole opened to an atmosphere and the other end formed with a second breather hole opened to an interior of said second casing. The breather passage is further formed with a branch passage at the position rearward from said second breather hole to permit liquid communication between an interior of the first casing and the atmosphere.
Abstract:
The present invention provides with a process of preparing an optically active succinimide derivative, which is a key intermediate for production of ranirestat. A compound (3) is easily prepared by treating the derivative of succinic acid diester of the formula (2): wherein R1 is an amino group protected with a group removed by hydrogenolysis or a tert-butoxycarbonylamino group and R2 is an ethyl group optionally substituted with one or two methyl group(s) at α-position, provided that R2 is not a tert-butyl group when R1 is a tert-butoxycarbonylamino group; with alkali metal alkoxide and the compound (3) can be an important intermediate for production of ranirestat.
Abstract:
A sensor array having a plurality of pressure sensors arranged on a measurement surface, a pressurization portion for pressing the sensor array laid across an artery of a living body, a sensor signal selection portion for selecting a pressure signal among pressure signals from the plurality of pressure sensors, a filter portion having a cutoff frequency variable corresponding to an instruction, and a filter control portion for providing an instruction to vary a value of the cutoff frequency are included. The filter control portion switches the cutoff frequency in a situation wherein a plurality of pressure signals respectively obtained from the plurality of pressure sensors are successively switched and output by the sensor signal selection portion to specify the pressure sensor for pulse wave detection, and in a situation wherein the pulse wave is detected from the specified pressure sensor.
Abstract:
A molten metal is poured into and stored in a hopper in a rotary-mold gravity casting process, so that a small amount of the molten metal is allowed to flow out of the hopper into a runner to previously fill up the runner. A casting mold is rotated from this state, thereby causing the molten metal to be filled from the hopper into a cavity by a difference in height generated between the molten metal level in the hopper and the molten metal level in the casting mold. Thus, when the molten metal, once stored in the hopper, is filled into the cavity in the casting mold by rotating the casting mold, the inclusion of air can be prevented from being produced due to ruffling of the molten metal in the cavity.
Abstract:
A blood pressure monitor includes a main body provided with a power switch and an inflating switch, a cover mounted on the main body in an open-and-close fashion and on an inner wall thereof provided with a display, and a cuff secured to the main body as a single unit. When the cover is closed during not using the monitor, the power and inflating switches are covered with the cover. When the cover is opened for use, the display appears. Thus, the blood pressure monitor provides avoidance of unexpected actuation of the power and inflating switches, improvement of operation of the switches and a view angle of the display, improved assembling work of the monitor, and simplification of repair and replacement in the monitor.
