摘要: A valvetrain suitable for an internal combustion engine of a type that includes a combustion chamber, a moveable valve having a seat formed within the combustion chamber, and a camshaft. The valvetrain includes a rocker arm assembly having a rocker arm and an electrical device that either configures the rocker arm assembly or provides position feedback for a part of the rocker arm assembly. The valvetrain includes a framework that fits around a spark plug tube while holding a component of a circuit that includes the electrical device in a position adjacent the rocker arm assembly. The position may place the component in contact with or very close to the rocker arm assembly. This framework structure may effectively utilize the available space under a valve cover while facilitating correct positioning of the component in relation to the rocker arm assembly.

摘要: A switchable valve bridge for an internal combustion engine is provided that includes an outer housing, an inner housing, a locking collar, and a first ramp. The outer housing includes two valve pallets configured to interface with two poppet valves. The inner housing is slidably disposed within the outer housing. The inner housing has a first locking latch configured to move radially relative to an actuation axis of the inner housing. The locking collar is configured to move axially via an actuation force applied to the locking collar in a first axial direction parallel to the actuation axis. The first ramp is disposed within both the first locking aperture and the locking collar. The first ramp is configured to be actuated by the locking collar such that axial movement of the first ramp causes radial movement of the first locking latch.

摘要: A hydraulic valve actuation system with controlled valve seating velocity and method therefor are proposed. The system includes an actuator with a housing and a drive assembly formed from a drive piston within the housing and an adjustment pin. In an internal combustion engine application, the adjustment pin contacts and moves an engine valve that controls air and fuel entering an engine cylinder. The actuator provides velocity dampening of the drive piston, via an annulus-shaped fluid communication path defined by at least one surface of the drive piston and at least one opposing surface of a damping chamber formed within the housing. The dampening hydraulically cushions the impact of a bottom of the drive piston against a bottom stop of the actuator during opening of the engine valve, which reduces noise and engine wear. In another example, the system is configured to control an engine valve seating velocity.

摘要: The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a valve actuator for a specialized stationary two-piston hydraulic engine, including a specialized drive cam, an actuator, an oil drive line, and a control valve. A hydraulic linkage is maintained between a primary piston and a secondary piston when the control valve is open, and the oil drive line is drained through the control valve when the control valve is closed. In the present disclosure, by integrating the primary piston and the secondary piston in a specialized actuator, oil consumption is reduced, and with a design of the specialized drive cam, an optimized design of the valve actuator that operates independently of a positive valve mechanism is realized, thus reducing interference and influence of the valve actuator on an operation of the positive valve mechanism.

摘要: A compression-release engine brake system operating an exhaust valve of an engine during a compression-release engine braking operation. The compression-release brake system comprises an exhaust rocker arm and a brake reset device disposed in a reset bore formed in the exhaust rocker arm. The brake reset device comprises a reset check valve, a slider-piston slidably disposed in the reset bore and an external slider bias spring biasing the piston foot away from the brake reset device. The external slider bias spring is disposed outside the reset bore and around the piston-slider. The brake reset device permits pressurized hydraulic fluid to flow from a supply conduit to a reset conduit to supply a brake actuation piston when the reset check valve is open. The actuation piston extends and engages the exhaust valve toward the end of a compression stroke of the internal combustion engine, and the brake reset device resets.

摘要: An internal combustion engine includes an electro-hydraulic system for variable actuation of intake valves where each cylinder has two intake valves, associated with two intake conduits. A first conduit is generates within the cylinder a tumble motion of airflow introduced therein, when the intake valve associated thereto is at least partially opened. The second intake conduit generates within the cylinder a swirl motion of airflow introduced therein when the second intake valve is at least partially opened. A controller of controls one or more control valves to open only one of the intake valves of each cylinder in a condition of reduced engine operation, below a predetermined load and/or a predetermined speed of the engine, and to always open both intake valves in the remaining conditions of engine operation. The first intake valve is the only valve to be opened in the reduced engine operation condition.

摘要: A valve actuation device for actuating a first and second gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine. A tilting lever is pivotable between a first starting position and a first actuation position and a valve bridge is movable between a second starting position and a second actuation position. A coupling device is switchable between a locking state, in which the valve bridge is movable out of the second starting position into the second actuation position via the coupling device by the tilting lever, and an unlocking state, in which, despite a movement of the tilting lever out of the first starting position into the first actuation position, there is no movement of the valve bridge out of the second starting position into the second actuation position. The coupling device is held on the tilting lever such that the coupling device is pivotable with the tilting lever.
