    摘要: A phosphor, comprising a manganese activated zinc silicate phosphor, is comprised of particles having a major-to-minor axis ratio of 1.0 to 1.4. A method for producing the phosphor, comprising burning a phosphor material containing elements constituting a host material of the phosphor and an activator or compounds containing the elements by heating in a heating furnace while flowing or rotating them to manganese activated zinc silicate phosphor particles having a major-to-minor axis ratio of 1.0 to 1.4. Another method for producing the phosphor, comprising burning phosphor material by heating in a heating furnace while flowing or rotating them to obtain a manganese activated zinc silicate phosphor having an afterglow time of less than 9 ms. Thus, a compact phosphor layer with high packing density can be formed, and there can be obtained a phosphor capable of high-luminance green light emission upon excitation by vacuum ultraviolet rays or low-voltage electron beams. Moreover, there can be obtained a manganese-activated zinc silicate phosphor capable of emission of green light of high luminance and short afterglow time upon excitation by vacuum ultraviolet rays or low-voltage electron beams.

    摘要: An image display unit having a structure in which a heat-resisting fine particle layer is formed on a metal back layer disposed on a phosphor layer, and a getter layer is deposited/formed on the heat-resisting fine particle layer by vapor-depositing. The fine particle layer is desirably formed in a specified pattern, and a filmy getter layer is formed in a pattern complementary to the former pattern. The average particle size of heat-resisting fine particles which may use SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 is 5 nm to 30 μm. Since abnormal discharging is restricted, the destruction and deterioration of an electron emitting element and a phosphor screen are prevented to provide a high-brightness, high-grade display.

Alternatively, unwanted light emission attributed to an electron beam on the low voltage side of the fluorescent substance for display unit (1) can be suppressed.

The zinc sulfide phosphor which emits green light has an average particle diameter in a range of (0.017×VE1.9+2.58)±20%[μm]. A phosphor for a display, which emits red light, comprises a yttrium oxysulfide phosphor or a yttrium oxide phosphor and has an average particle diameter in a range of (0.023×VE1.95+2.88)±20%[μm]. These phosphors for a display are used for a display which has an electron beam having an acceleration voltage of 3 kV to 15 kV as an excitation source.
