    摘要: Techniques for supporting concurrent data services with different credentials are described. A wireless communication network authenticates a user/device whenever new credentials are used. An access terminal sends first credentials via a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) link to a Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) and receives an indication of successful authentication for a first data service based on the first credentials. The access terminal may receive a request for a second data service and second credentials from an internal application or a terminal device coupled to the access terminal. The access terminal then sends the second credentials via the PPP link to the PDSN while the first data service is ongoing. The access terminal receives from the PDSN an indication of successful authentication for the second data service based on the second credentials. The access terminal may send a Configure-Request packet or an Authenticate-Request packet to trigger or initiate authentication by the PDSN for the second data service.

    摘要: A method and system that detects protocol and configuration messages in a PPP packet without having to unframe the entire packet. The method includes a communication device that receives a plurality data frames, wherein the communication device is capable of ascertaining the beginning of an information portion within the received frames. The communications device detects whether the information portion contains configuration information, such as protocol and configuration messages of a predetermined type. In a first embodiment, the detection is achieved by the communication device unescaping the contents of a plurality of bytes and determining whether the escaped bytes contains the desired configuration information. In a second embodiment, the communication device determines whether the contents of a particular byte contain the desired configuration information, in escaped or unescaped form, and the communication device continues to sequentially process the bytes within the information portion until the bytes typically containing the desired configuration information are processed.

    摘要: A method for selectively maintaining compression state and applying a compression technique after a PPP renegotiation on a Um interface of a wireless communication network. A communication device receives packetized data transmitted from a terminal device, which is coupled to the communication device via an Rm interface. The communication device determines whether the received packetized data comprises compressed or uncompressed data. Upon determining that the received packetized data comprises compressed data, the communication device determines whether connection information identifying a compression slot is included in the compressed data. The communication device further determines whether the connection information exceeds a highest-numbered decompression slot from a plurality of decompression slots on said Um interface. The communication device sets up a local decompression slot, in the communication device, which corresponds to the connection information in order to maintain said compression state, wherein the local decompression slot is set up in response to determining that the connection information exceeds the highest-numbered decompression slot. The communication device decompresses the compressed packetized data when it receives compressed packetized data containing said connection information.

    摘要: A method or system establishes a packet network call over a transmission link extending between a mobile terminal device and an interworking function which comprises a gateway or bridge connection to a network, such as a packet network. The transmission link connects the mobile terminal device to a wireless communication device over a first interface and further connects the wireless communication device to the interworking function over a second interface via a wireless link to a base station. The packet network call, once established, comprises a first interface data link formed within a predetermined data link layer across the first interface and a second interface data link formed within the predetermined data link layer across the second interface. A flow control is asserted and deasserted on the mobile terminal device. During the flow control, the wireless communication device performs a link control protocol negotiation with the interworking function to establish the second interface data link with the interworking function. After the second interface data link is established, and during the flow control, the wireless communication device performs a network control protocol negotiation with the interworking function to establish a second interface network link carried by the second interface data link. This results in an IP address being assigned to identify the mobile terminal device. After the second interface data link is established, the mobile terminal device performs a link control protocol negotiation with the wireless communication device to establish the first interface data link with the wireless communication device. After the first interface data link and the second interface network link are each established, the mobile terminal device performs a network control protocol negotiation with the wireless communication device to establish a first interface network link carried by the first interface data link, using an IP address obtained from a network control protocol negotiation with the interworking function.

    摘要: A mobile packet network call is established over a transmission link, extending between a mobile terminal device and a given interworking function. The transmission link connects the mobile terminal device to a wireless communication device over a first interface and further connects the wireless communication device to the given interworking function over a second interface via a wireless link to a base station. The transmission link further comprises a packet mode in which the traffic channel is up and a dormant mode in which the traffic channel is down while the data link layer link and the network layer link are maintained. Network region identifier information is provided to the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device determines when the given interworking function has changed from a first interworking function to a second interworking function by determining when there is a corresponding change in the network region identifier information. The wireless communication device initiates a link control protocol renegotiation with the mobile terminal device when the corresponding change in the network region identifier information has been determined. The mobile terminal device responds to the initiation of the link control protocol, and causes the transmission link to enter the packet mode, and to bring up the traffic channel. The data link layer link is then established with the second interworking function. The mobile terminal device and the second interworking function then negotiate network control protocol options and establish a network layer link. If the second interworking function corresponds to a new foreign agent, the mobile terminal device will then update its IP mobility registration.

    摘要: A communication session between a node seeking network access and a NAS (Network Access Server) is established by having only few exchanges of messages. Upon detecting a physical link between the node and the NAS, the NAS immediately sends an authentication request message to the node. In response, the node sends a request message which includes all parameters options, in addition to responding to the authentication request message, for link configuration and network access control. The NAS then picks and chooses the parameter options and sends back the selected options in a reply message to the node. If the selected options in the reply message meet a threshold, the node straightforwardly transmits user data for network access via the NAS.
