摘要: An osteotomy implant for disposition in a wedge-shaped osteotomy opening in a bone, the implant comprising: a body for disposition within the wedge-shaped osteotomy opening in the bone and supporting the bone while healing occurs; at least one key formed integral with the body for stabilizing the body relative to the adjacent bone while healing occurs; and at least one fenestration extending through the body for permitting bone growth through the implant. An osteotomy implant for disposition in a wedge-shaped osteotomy opening in a bone, the implant comprising: a body for disposition within the wedge-shaped osteotomy opening in the bone and supporting the bone while healing occurs; and at least one key formed integral with the body for stabilizing the body relative to the adjacent bone while healing occurs; wherein at least a portion of the body and the at least one key are formed out of a relatively strong, load-bearing material whereby to stabilize the bone during healing; and further wherein at least a portion of the body is formed out of a bone growth-promoting material whereby to enhance bone healing across the osteotomy opening in the bone.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for attaching tissue to bone. Apparatus is disclosed for assembling tissue to bone comprising an expandable body configured to expand into bone, the expandable body defining a bore; and an expander pin comprising a shaft sized to be received in the bore of the expandable body and expand the expandable body laterally when the expander pin is driven into the expandable body, and tissue attachment apparatus associated with the shaft, the expander pin defining a bore; whereby when the expander pin is driven into the expandable body, the expandable will be attached to bone and the tissue attachment apparatus will secure tissue to the apparatus. A method is disclosed for attaching tissue to bone comprising driving an expandable body into a bone, the expandable body defining a bore and comprising tissue attachment apparatus; and fixing the expandable body in, and thereby securing the tissue to relative to, the bone.

摘要: A driver assembly including a handle configured to receive a detachable cannula, a trigger arm connected to the handle, and an advancement mechanism mechanically coupled to the trigger arm. The advancement mechanism is constructed to receive and incrementally translate the surgical device through the cannula into body tissue to be repaired in response to a force applied to the trigger arm. The driver assembly of the present invention is useful whenever it is desired to incrementally advance a surgical device such as a long needle or obturator into tissue. The incremental advancement feature of the driver assembly enables an operator to control the precise placement of the surgical device. The driver assembly is particularly useful in applications where advancing the needle or obturator is difficult due to space restriction or when an easily operable surgical device is required.
