摘要: A method for creating a three-dimensional solid freeform fabrication object with phase-change material includes depositing a bulk amount of phase-change material in a defined region, selectively ink-jetting an ultraviolet initiator onto a predetermined area of the phase-change material, wherein the ultraviolet initiator defines a cross-sectional area of the three-dimensional object, and exposing the ultraviolet initiator to an ultraviolet light to cause cross-linking of the defined region.

摘要: Imaging layers, image recording media, and methods of preparation of each, are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment of the imaging layer, among others, includes a matrix; a radiation absorbing compound dissolved in the matrix; an aromatic compound dissolved in the matrix; a color former; and an activator. One of the activator and the color former is dissolved in the matrix and the other of the activator and the color former is substantially insoluble in the matrix at ambient conditions and is substantially uniformly distributed in the matrix.

摘要: A durable printed composite material can include a printable layer having an image reverse printed thereon. The printable layer can be a transparent or translucent material. A metallic layer can be adhered to the image side of the printable layer using an adhesive layer. The layers are formed such that at least a portion of the metallic layer is visible through the printable layer. A method of forming a durable printed composite material can include reverse printing an image on a printable layer to form a printed surface. A metallic layer can then be adhered to the printed surface of the printable layer. Heat and pressure can be applied to the metallic layer to produce a durable printed composite material. The metallic layer can be at least partially visible through the printable layer. The durable printed composite material provides a medium which has an image having a reflective metallic background useful in a variety of applications.

摘要: A colorant dispersion for an ink includes a liquid medium and metal oxide particles dispersed in the liquid medium. The metal oxide particles include a mixture of i) metal oxide particle cores having an organic ligand interacted with respective surfaces thereof, ii) metal oxide particle cores having the organic ligand chemically bonded to respective surfaces thereof, and iii) products of a reaction between metal ions on respective surfaces of metal oxide particle cores and the organic ligand. The organic ligand is chosen from an organic ligand having a phenol group, an organic ligand having a carboxylate group, an organic ligand having an amine group, or combinations thereof. The metal oxide particles exhibit a color that is different from a natural color of the metal oxide particle core.
