    Abstract: The exhaust-gas turbine comprises a turbine wheel arranged on a shaft, a bearing casing for the bearing arrangement of the rotatable shaft, a gas-inlet casing supported on the bearing casing and concentrically surrounding the bearing casing in the supporting region, and a centering ring for centering the gas-inlet casing relative to the shaft mounted in the bearing casing. The centering ring and either the bearing casing or the gas-inlet casing comprise grooves and either radially or axially unidirectional centering lugs for engaging in the grooves. Due to the radially or axially unidirectional centering lugs with corresponding grooves, at least one of the connections between the bearing casing and the centering ring and the centering ring and the gas-inlet casing is not positive-locking, as a result of which any desired positioning of the gas-inlet casing relative to the bearing casing is made possible.

    Abstract: The shaft (1) is connected to the shaft attachment (2) by means of a thread. A bore (20) with an internal thread is incorporated in the shaft attachment and the shaft has a corresponding stem (10) which can be introduced into the threaded bore and has an external thread. An axial stop (11, 21) is arranged in each case on the shaft and on the shaft attachment. The internal and external threads have torque-transmitting flanks which are flat toward the axis and which can be connected to one another frictionally by means of radial pressure by mutual rotation of shaft and shaft attachment with interaction between the axial stops. Owing to the small angle between the load-bearing flanks and the axis, the radial pressure decisive for the torque transmission is correspondingly greater than in conventional threaded connections. As a result, the axial prestressing force between the two parts to be connected can be correspondingly reduced.

    Abstract: A sound attenuator on the intake side of a compressor of an exhaust-gas turbocharger includes a tubular sound attenuator housing, which encases a flow duct between a face-side inlet opening and a rear-side outlet opening. A holding plate is provided in the sound attenuator housing in the flow direction and is perforated in the flow direction. For example, the holding plate can have a multiplicity of holes extending in the flow direction. The sound attenuator on the intake side of the compressor of an exhaust-gas turbocharger has a compact, lightweight and inexpensive structural form. The intake air is subjected to low resistance as it flows through the attenuation elements.

    Abstract: A device for sealing a bearing housing, which holds lubricating oil, from which a rotor supported inside the housing of an exhaust gas turbocharger is guided into a compressor housing, loadable by a mass flow of a charger. The device includes a fixed partition with a wall extension, a sealing disk fastened on a shaft of the rotor, a separating gap arranged between the sealing disk and the wall extension, and a drip device connected to an oil-collecting channel and directs lubricating oil collected in the oil-collecting channel into an oil drain by gravity. The drip device includes a drain-off surface for lubricating oil, which has a large axial distance from a rotating sealing disk which delimits the separating gap. Lubricating oil which can penetrate into the separating gap is guided into an oil drain of the bearing housing without interacting with the sealing disk.

    Abstract: By means of a pre-swirl device, in steady-state engine operation, the rotational speed lines of the compressor are moved, by increasing the swirl at the compressor inlet in the rotational direction of the compressor, to such an extent that the steady-state operating point of the compressor comes to rest approximately at the absorption limit of the compressor. In this way, the level of the charge pressure can be adjusted in a controlled fashion to the value required for the respective engine operating point. In the event of a sudden increase in the engine load, it is possible by resetting the pre-swirl grate to generate a charge pressure increase without a time-consuming rotor acceleration. The pre-swirl device therefore simultaneously assumes the functions of charge pressure and engine load control.
