摘要： There is disclosed a hydraulically actuated gripping and release mechanism for a ski binding wherein a pair of hydraulic active cylinder-piston units are jointly connected in operative relationship with a spring backed reaction cylinder-piston unit. The first two of said cylinder-piston units are respectively responsive to lateral release forces and to vertical release forces and the reaction unit is connected for further coaction between the ski boot and the ski. Depending on the direction of movement of the ski boot with respect to the ski, one or both of the active cylinders are subjected to pressure which cause the transfer of hydraulic liquid therefrom into the reactive cylinder and depression of the piston therein against a resilient member. Flow inhibiting means are provided between the active cylinders and the reactive cylinder to minimize the transfer of liquid in response to momentary shocks but without appreciably inhibiting such transfer in response to a substantial or sustained force. By appropriate adjustment of the relationships between the cylinders, or of the spring means applicable to the one or the other thereof, any desired force relationship necessary for release can be predetermined between lateral or vertical falls or combinations thereof (diagonal falls). The system is applied in one embodiment to a binding for reception into the sole of a ski boot and in another embodiment is applied to a system external to the ski boot and engaging an end thereof.

The release plate possesses at one end a supporting surface engaging beneath an associated holding surface of a holder element secured to the ski and the other end of which cooperates with a locking pin subjected to the pressure of an adjustment spring, so that there is possible both lateral release of the release plate as well as also upward release thereof away from the ski. A circular-shaped bearing disc is secured to the ski and engages with a lengthwise extending slot of the release plate, so that the release plate can pivot about the bearing disc, can displace in the lengthwise direction with respect to the bearing disc and can be raised therefrom. The supporting surface of the release plate and the holding surface of the holder element form a lateral guide with regard to the axis of the bearing disc.

摘要： Releasable ski binding permitting longitudinal movement of the ski boot with respect to the ski. One binding, such as the rearward binding, grips a suitable fitting on the ski boot in a conventional manner both above and on both sides thereof and is arranged for resiliently opposed release upon either upward or sideward movement of the associated end of the ski boot. Adjacent the other end of the boot, such as the toe, there is provided a fitting fixed rigidly with respect to the ski and a recess is provided in the fitting. The toe of the boot is provided with a single longitudinally aligned pin which projects into said recess, preferably received into the upper portion thereof, to permit longitudinal motion between the pin and the fitting but to prevent motion in any direction perpendicular thereto. This holds the boot firmly and safely on the ski but permits relative longitudinal motion between the boot and the ski which may result if the ski bends during skiing. Such longitudinal motion is permitted without affecting or altering the accuracy of setting of the release portion of the binding.

A pair of spring loaded levers are pivotally mounted onto the ski and arranged for embracing the knob-like element when the boot carrying same is appropriately positioned on the ski. Spring loading of the levers is such as to permit them to separate, which separation permits insertion and removal from a position of embracement thereby of said knob-like element. The levers further define a funnel-shape portion immediately behind the release edges of the levers to facilitate entry between said levers of said knob-like element or to permit separation of said levers by insertion into said funnel-shaped opening of a ski pole.

摘要： A device for mounting a binding component onto a ski and providing for longitudinal adjustment thereof on and with respect to the ski. A carriage for carrying the binding component is arranged for slidable adjustment along a ski. Either the carriage or a device fixed to the ski carry a toothed rail and the other thereof carries a toothed locator positioned for crosswise motion relative to the ski into and out of engagement with the toothed rail. A light spring holds the locator in normal engagement with the toothed rail. A manual device is provided for disengagement of the parts upon moving of the locator crosswise of the ski against the spring. This enables the spring to be relatively light inasmuch as it functions only to hold the locator in rail engaging position and the locator may be easily disengaged by simply direct movement thereof against the spring. After adjustment of the carriage is completed, the locator may be caused to reengage with the toothed rail by releasing same to permit the spring to move the locator back to a position effecting such engagement.
