    摘要: An inrush current restraint circuit, for use with a typical overcurrent minimum pickup circuit of a power system switching device, such as a recloser or sectionalizer, for raising the initial overcurrent minimum pickup value upon closure of the switching device to a selected value, then linearly returning this pickup value to normal within a selected period of time. The minimum pickup circuit is actuated by the voltage drop across a current sensing resistor, through which a current signal proportional to current in the power system is passed. The initial pickup overcurrent value is increased by providing another current path in parallel with the current sensing resistor when the switching device is closed. A timing capacitor is discharged each time the switching device is open, then charged from a constant current source each time the switching device is closed. The voltage across this timing capacitor is applied to the input of an amplifier having a unity voltage gain and the output of this amplifier is connected in series with a second resistor across the current sensing resistor. When the timing capacitor is charged to a voltage higher than the voltage produced across the current sensing resistor, the amplifier is back biased to effectively open the additional current path through the second resistor, and return the minimum pickup current to its normal value.

    摘要: A hinge assembly for removably mounting an oven door on the front wall of the cabinet of a food processing oven for movement between open and closed positions with respect to the oven cavity includes a hinge plate mounted in overlying relation with respect to the front wall at one side of the oven cavity, a hinge arm on which the oven door is removably mounted pivotally attached to the hinge plate, a support arm joined pivotally at one end to the hinge arm and extending into the oven cabinet alongside the oven cavity through an aperture in the hinge plate and an aligned aperture in the front wall of the oven cabinet and a spring attached at the opposite end of the support arm and cabinet frame, to bias the oven door to a "closed door" position. The hinge assembly includes the improvement of a permanently affixed stop to prevent damage to the front wall of the oven cabinet after the door is removed from the hinge arm, because of engagement by the hinge arm if the latter is pulled forcibly by the biasing spring toward the front wall. The stop includes a pin mounted on and extending transverse the support arm for engagement with the hinge plate prior to the hinge arm engaging the front wall of the cabinet. The stop pin is ineffective to engage the hinge plate when the oven door is mounted on the hinge arm.

    摘要: A fusible element for a current limiting fuse includes two silver ribbons, each provided with a plurality of holes spaced apart along the length thereof which define fusible points of reduced cross sectional area, one of these ribbons including a conventional "M" spot consisting of a body of low melting temperature alloy such as tin-lead solder, in intimate contact with the silver ribbon. One end of each of the silver ribbons is joined to a respective end of a centrally disposed tin wire element by a copper interconnecting member. This tin wire central portion of the fusible element has a melt I.sup.2 t which is equal to or greater than that of the silver ribbons in series with it. The time-current characteristics of this fusible element at high magnitude fault currents and at low magnitude overload currents are determined respectively by the fusible points of reduced cross sectional area of the silver ribbons and by the "M" spot of one of the silver ribbons in the same way as in the fusible elements of known current limiting fuses. However, at intermediate fault currents, the tin element initiates melting of the fusible element much faster than a fusible element using only a perforated silver ribbon and a conventional "M" spot.

The tool employs a motor-driven abrasive drum and a pressure pad movable toward and away from the abrasive drum, with the conductor being squeezed between the pad and the drum during operation. A control for the motor is activated by the motion of the pressure pad toward the drum beyond a preestablished point, and an adjustable stop estalishes a minimum spacing between the pressure pad and the abrasive drum. A shroud covers the drum at all points except for an exposed area between the drum and the pressure pad, and a bias spring urges the pressure pad away from the drum to stop the motor upon release by the operator.

    摘要: A vacuum contact enclosure has end contact assemblies within contact enclosures specially formed to distribute the high voltage field and eliminate high stress in an encapsulating solid insulation. A non-tracking guide tube extends concentrically of a movable contact rod. A solid, dry, high voltage insulation wall intimately attaches to the vacuum and contact enclosures. The wall has an opening through which the contact rod extends with a planar end wall surface abutting a submersible operating housing. A clamp engages the wall and housing and draws the wall surface into sealing engagement with the housing. The operating mechanism includes a pivoted lever assembly connected to a spring-loaded linkage member secured to the contact operating member and a spaced drive lever and pin assembly. A toggle assembly is pinned between the assemblies and includes a releasable latch member. An extension spring is connected at opposite ends to the lever assemblies to rapidly open the contacts upon release of the latch member. A separate closing spring is connected to the lever and pin assembly. A trip-free operating handle has a reset arm engaging a pivoted arm for pivoting the lever and pin assembly to reestablish the toggle latch and simultaneously stress the both extension springs. The reset arm disengages and releases the mechanism and the closing spring pivots the reset toggle mechanism to close the contacts.

    摘要: A combination door handle and security locking system in which the conventional door latch is actuated by turning the five-sided head of an operating shaft with a special socket wrench. A hinge plate having a slot for a padlock bail and a flat index tab on its inner surface is rotated to cover the operating shaft head. The tab must fit against one side of the operating shaft head to allow the hinge plate to be fully closed so that a padlock can be inserted in the bail. The latching mechanism is designed so that this tab will fit against one side of the operating head when the door is fully latched, to thus prevent rotation of the latching mechanism. The free end of the hinge plate has an offset portion which serves both as a sleet hood for the padlock and as a handle for opening the door.

    摘要: A tap-changing transformer system, utilized for voltage regulation of the line potential applied to a load from a source of energy, has a non-arcing switch to protect tap contacts during a tap change. A fail-safe circuit is utilized to determine that the non-arcing switch and its associated circuitry are operating properly before a movable tap contact is transferred from one stationary tap to another. In the event that the fail-safe circuit detects an improper operation of the non-arcing switch, the source is connected directly to the load to preclude the passage of any load current through the tap-changing transformer. A particular form of transfer switch useful in effecting the connection of the source directly to the load employs a current-limiting impedance arrangement.
