Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and system for dynamic filtering of data packets at an access gateway in a communication network. According to the method, a policy server receives a request for registration with the network from a network node. The server verifies the network node identity and selects the corresponding security policy for the network node. The selected security policy is indicated by the server to a network access gateway. The network access gateway selects the indicted security policy. The selected security policy is applied for the communication between the network node and the network.
Abstract:
A GRE tunnel initiator and a tunnel endpoint can exchange GRE Heartbeat messages to provide status information about the tunnel endpoint. The tunnel endpoint can send the tunnel initiator a GRE Heartbeat message through an established GRE tunnel. The GRE Heartbeat messages can be sent at different times while the GRE tunnel is active, and they can indicate to the GRE tunnel initiator that the tunnel endpoint remains active.
Abstract:
The RF receiver for the CDMA mobile communication BTS system according to the present invention realizes the system with an analog down-converter to process multiple FA's and generate IF signals of 70 MHz having a bandwidth corresponding to the multiple FA's with a mixer, and a digital down-converter to digitally process the respective FA's through A/D conversion of the IF signals of 70 MHz, allowing simple multi-FA(3FA)-based expansion. Also, the system needs only one analog down-converter for simultaneously processing 3 FA's and one digital down-converter for digitally processing the IF signals from the analog down-converter by FA's to down-convert the IF signals to baseband signals, thereby reducing the size of the system and hence the hardware cost. The system can be implemented with higher stability by digitally processing the down-conversion of the analog IF signals of multiple FA's to the baseband signals.
Abstract:
A Passive Optical Network (PON) is provided with capability for multiple protocols and service suppliers by employing Wavelength Division Multiplexer (WDM) elements in combination with optical couplers at optical distribution nodes (ODN) intermediate a local exchange office and a customer node. The local exchange office node transmitting and receiving signals from a single optical fiber through a WDM providing M/2 wavelength pairs for use with differing protocols and each customer node connected to one leg of an optical coupler in the ODN with a WDM associated with one of the wavelength pairs for received and transmitted signals.
Abstract:
A digital to analog converter (DAC) for a communications system with reduced intersymbol interference incorporates dynamic element matching (DEM) with a matching element array having 2M bits for an input corresponding to M+1 levels thereby employing only one half the range of the DEM and array to produce the DAC output.
Abstract:
A multilevel hierarchical feature rights management system (100) provides an efficient way of allocating feature keys. Sub-agents (140) are provisioned or activated with application software having features. The sub-agents request permissions from feature rights management agents (120) to use these features. The feature rights management agents (120) receive feature keys over a network (130) from a feature rights server (110). The feature rights management agents (120) then permit sub-agents (140) to use their provisioned features. In a further aspect of the invention the sub-agents (140) voluntarily release feature permissions rather than the server (110) or the agents (120) forcing the sub-agents (140) to revoke rights.
Abstract:
Communications system comprising a set of interface devices adapted to be coupled to a public switch telephone network (PSTN) and radio transceivers. The interface devices are configured to serve in various geographic regions. The radio transceivers are coupled to the interface devices in the set of interface devices. The radio transceivers are for communication with mobile subscribers. The mobile subscribers each have a home region. The circuitry coupled to the set of interfaces routes a call through a path including an interface device that serves the mobile subscriber's home region, for a call involving the PSTN and a mobile subscriber located outside the mobile subscriber's home region.
Abstract:
A method for providing interactive wireless gaming using standard wireless communication devices comprising; receiving a target identity and a delivery location for a game related action from a first game subscriber, wherein the target identity corresponds to a second game subscriber; determining an actual location of the second game subscriber; comparing the actual location of the second game subscriber to the delivery location; and performing game related actions based on the comparison.
Abstract:
A first network element determines (11) that a given mobile node using mobile Internet Protocol should receive subsequent broadcast packets as may be sourced by a corresponding Home Agent. This first network element can then determine (12) whether to support such subsequent broadcast packets using a first broadcast packet handling approach or a second broadcast packet handling approach.
Abstract:
In a data packet system (100) comprised of a plurality of processing platforms that are each at least potentially in-line with respect to a flow of data packets, upon receiving (401) an installation of a data packet filter, automatically selecting (402) where, from amongst that plurality of process platforms, to effect the data packet filter. This can comprise, if desired, parsing of the filter to ascertain its characterizing requirements and accessing information regarding the processing platforms to determine which platforms are capable of effecting those requirements. Numerous other factors can also be taken into account to aid in assuring an appropriate selection.
