The device includes a chamber, the internal pressure of which is variable and which is closed by the film, a system for measuring a sag in the film arranged outside the chamber and opposite said film, and a system for heating the film. The heating system includes a hot air blowing unit which is suitable for producing a hot airflow flowing parallel to the film between two opposite edges of said film.

    摘要: The invention is directed to adjustable length mold assemblies for forming inflatable members and methods for using adjustable length mold assemblies for forming inflatable members, such as, for example, balloons for use with balloon catheters and stent delivery systems. The adjustable length mold assemblies comprise at least two mold pieces adapted to fit together, one mold piece having a surface configured to be slidably received by a bore of the other mold piece, the placement of one piece within the other defining a chamber of variable length which forms the mold. Each adjustable length mold assembly of the present invention is effective to form balloons, where if desired different balloons formed by a single mold may have different lengths. The adjustable length mold assemblies may also comprise a positioner to put a mold piece in a desired position relative to the other, and a locking mechanism to secure a mold piece in a desired position.

    摘要: A thermo-forming machine is described for forming three-dimensional work pieces, having extensive relatively thin surfaces of uniform thickness, from flat sheets of a thermoplastic material. The machine includes one or two molds (31, 131) movable vertically between a passive lowered position and a raised forming position, a lower, pressurizable sealed chamber (14) closed at the top by a horizontal reduction plate (12) having a first and a second aperture (12a, 12b), spaced horizontally and of a size enabling a mold (31, 131) to pass through them. First and second counter-frames (29, 30) each hold a sheet to be formed around the apertures (12a, 12b) of the reduction plate (12). Three heating panels (16, 17, 22) are provided, aligned vertically, spaced from each other and movable horizontally between a first position aligned vertically with the first aperture (12a) and a second position aligned vertically with the second aperture (12b). The upper heating panel (16) and the intermediate heating panel (17) are positioned above the reduction plate (12) for preheating opposite surfaces of a flat sheet supported between these two panels (16, 17). The lower heating panel (22) is positioned beneath the reduction plate (12) for simultaneously heating from beneath another sheet held around one of the apertures (12a, 12b) and heated from above by the intermediate panel (17).

The coating is dried and the plastic sheet is heated to a temperature sufficient to form the plastic. The plastic sheet is then formed into a desired shape.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for heating vinyl composition tiles which are then amenable to cutting with a knife along complex contours without damaging the tiles. A stack of heating trays are located within a protective housing. The housing is supported on wheel means for ease of transport about the worksite and has one open side so that tiles can be loaded onto each of the trays. A discrete electrical heating element heats each tray and tile to a uniform temperature which renders the tile sufficiently elastic to be cut along any desired contour without fracturing. The trays are spaced appropriately so that tiles can be individually seized for cutting by the installer. The combination of the number of trays and the heating element's heat transfer capability enables an installer to repeatedly seize a sufficiently heated tile, re-load the vacant tray, and then seize another heated tile from the next sequential tray on a cyclical, sustainable basis. For added convenience, it is preferable that each tray be provided with a mechanical tile extractor and that the housing contain a cold tile storage compartment.

    摘要: Apparatus for lining by lamination air-permeable containers with thermoplastic film involving a deep drawing operation. The containers are held in deep drawing molds formed in a rotating table and the film blanks are formed from a film web onto individual holding means secured to another rotating table, the driving means for the tables being synchronized such that the film blanks are timely presented for the deep drawing operation following heating. Each holding means includes a metallic frame having a plurality of closely spaced pins for penetrating a film blank around the area to be deep drawn, the pins causing the area to be relieved of stresses during heating and shrinkage and hence troublesome wrinkles in the blanks prior to being deep drawn. Surprisingly, the pins do not cause tearing of even very thin film, because of the head conductor property of the pins and its effect on the arcing of the film blank in the vicinity of the pins as the blank shrinks.
