    摘要: A process for manufacturing a tyre for vehicle wheels, comprises the step of building, on a forming support (50) extending about an axis (X-X) r a carcass structure comprising at least one carcass ply (2) and, at at least one end edge (2a) of said at least one carcass ply (2), at least one annular anchoring structure (10). The step of building the carcass structure comprise steps of laying the carcass ply (2) on the forming support (50), bringing the annular anchoring structure (10) in contact position with the end edge (2a) of the carcass ply (2) and turning up the end edge (2a) about the annular anchoring structure (10) so as to form a turned up end portion of the carcass ply (2) including the annular anchoring structure (10). A first part of the step of turning up the end edge (2a) of the carcass ply (2) is carried out while at least one positioning device (110) retains the annular anchoring structure (10) in contact position with the end edge (2a) of the carcass ply (2).

    摘要: Using a core manufacturing method, a green tire is obtained in which edge portions of a carcass ply are turned up at bead cores.An inner liner 40 is set on an external surface of a hard core 12, and a carcass 46 is formed thereon. A bladder 36 disposed inside the core is inflated, whereby edge portions of the carcass 46 can be turned up. Thereafter, conventionally known tire structural members such as a belt, a side tread and a top tread are set on, and a green tire is completed on the external surface of the hard core 12.

    摘要: A simple two-stage process is disclosed for economic mass production of premium-quality heavy-duty belted tubeless and tube-type radial truck tires of various sizes using standard 30-year-old semi-automatic tire building machines heretofore used in the manufacture of bias-ply tires by the flat-band process. The old automatic machines are modified at minimal cost to receive a unique rigid expansible drum which is radially expanded 35% or more during the first-stage tire building operation. The drum may be adjusted to make tires of various widths and diameters and has a series of closely spaced radially movable segments defining a rigid segmental open-ended externally cylindrical shell having an annular rubber cover on which a complete green tire carcass is built prior to application of the belts and the tread at the second-stage machine.The shell has rigid beveled shoulders at the ends of the drum which are inclined at an angle of from 40.degree. to 50.degree. relative to the drum axis and which are shaped to facilitate high-speed production, and to permit effective use of the ply turn-up tools and stitching means normally used on such automatic tire building machines with open-ended cylindrical drums. The rubber-covered shell expands radially in a precisely controlled manner in response to rotation of the drum, and it maintains uniform cord spacing and prevents the formation of wrinkles and air pockets during the ply down and ply turn-up operations. The unique drum facilitates accurate positioning of the wire beads and more precise control of bead-to-bead cord lengths and provides an ideal support during the stitching operations at the drum shoulders so as to improve tire quality and uniformity.

    摘要: A wrapping over device for use with a rotatable solid body tire assembly drum. The wrapping over device includes an arcuate support having at least three conical finger elements mounted thereon. The finger elements are positioned progressively closer to an axial centerline of the tire assembly drum in a direction of rotation of the drum. A pressing roller is rotatably mounted on the support at a position between the conical fingers. A pivot drive pivotally mounts the support for rotation about an axis disposed at right angles to the assembly drum axial centerline. A parallel drive means mounts the pivot drive means for movement in a direction parallel to the tire assembly drum axial centerline.
