Abstract: An elastomeric tire for mounting onto a rim that is manufactured by casting or molding methods to include an interior arch shaped cavity that is centered under the tire tread to have at least one hundred forty (140) degrees and not more than one hundred seventy (170) degrees of arc, and with the cavity arch duplicated around the tire exterior, below the tire tread. A uniform tire wall thickness is provided that is selected for a particular anticipated load as the tire will carry, with the tire side wall ends maintained at the rim aligned ends, supporting the load carried by the tire in compression, and with the tire, at atmospheric pressure, providing ride and wear characteristics that are comparable to a pressurized pneumatic tire carrying a like load, and which tire of the invention interior arch shaped cavity can be pressurized to add to its inherent load supporting character to safely support even greater loads.

Abstract: In many designs, a tire (14) of a wheel (10) is inadequately restrained with respect to a tire supporting rim assembly (12) of the wheel. Movement of the tire (14) with respect to the rim assembly (12) results in a wastage of energy. Abstract: A tire and wheel rim assembly wherein the wheel rim includes adjacent to at least one bead seat a circumferentially extending groove and the tire bead has a radially and axially projecting extended toe portion which is axially and radially located within said groove. Abstract: A wheel with a rim having a drop center well and a retainer member for a tubeless pneumatic tire. In use the bead of the inflated tire is prevented from moving inwardly off the bear seat and into the drop center well of the rim by the retainer member which is fixed to the rim axially inwardly of and adjacent a bead of the tire. If during mounting and inflation of the tire a bead thereof becomes caught on the retainer, a gas bleed passage through the retainer prevents the tire from being inflated while the bead is caught thereon, thereby preventing damage to the bead of the tire and minimizing the risk of personal injury.

Abstract: A flexible elastic ring having a generally rectangular cross section with radially inner and outer surfaces. A plurality of rigid members are molded in the ring at circumferentially spaced-apart positions and each of the rigid members extends diagonally from an edge at the radially inner surface to an edge at the radially outer surface of the elastic ring. The ring is mounted in a wheel well of the tire rim with the tire bead overlapping the edge at the radially outer surface to hold down the ring and the ends of the rigid members in that edge. The other ends of the rigid members are located in the edge at the radially inner surface of the ring adjacent a radially extending side surface of the ring for resisting deflection of the side surface which abuts a radially extending surface of the wheel well. The rigid members prevent the ring from rotating out of the wheel well in this manner when the ring is subject to centrifugal force during rotation of the wheel on which the rim is mounted.
