Abstract:
System and method for constantly monitoring the state of the oil of the wheels of heavy machinery, in particular mining trucks, while they are in motion. Comprising a server; a wireless sensor module attached to the rim of the wheel, obtaining oil measurements from an oil quality sensor, which sends the measurements to the server wirelessly; the sensor, located inside the sensor module; and a spoon-type mechanism which maintains the sensor in permanent contact with the oil inside the wheel, wherein said spoon-type mechanism rotates with the sensor module and the wheel. In addition, it may comprise a receiving antenna module which is located between the sensor module and the server. In addition, it may comprise a transmitter which is located between the receiving antenna module and the server.
Abstract:
Tire, the internal wall of which is covered with an airtight layer, itself covered with a layer of self-sealing product, comprising a radial carcass reinforcement (60) composed of reinforcing elements (61) having an elongation at break EBC and a breaking strength BSC, placed at a placement pitch PC and coated with rubber composition, designed so as to satisfy the inequality: BS C P C ≤ 1.5 · 10 6 · ( R S 2 - R E 2 ) R T . Each sidewall of the tire additionally comprises an additional strengthening reinforcement (120) composed of thread reinforcing elements having an elongation at break EBA and a breaking strength BSA, placed at a placement pitch PA and coated with rubber composition, in which each of the two additional strengthening reinforcements is designed such that: BS A P A ≥ 1.3 · BS C P C , and EBC≧EBA, the breaking strengths BSA and BSC and the elongations at break EBC and EBA being determined on the reinforcing elements before their incorporation in the tire.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a lubricant composition that can be used to lubricate an interface between a tire and a safety support mounted on a wheel rim inside the tire, the tire and a mounted assembly for an automotive vehicle being provided with the lubricant composition, wherein the lubricant composition according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an alkene oxide polymer (polyoxyalkene) as the lubricating agent and between 4.0% and 7.5% (% by weight of the lubricant composition) of silica as a thickening agent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an emergency running ring for pneumatic tires mounted on vehicle rims. A lubricant is contained in cavities formed by virtue of the shape of the ring, or is contained in auxiliary members mounted in openings in the ring or mounted on the surface of the ring. In all instances, the loss of tire pressure due to emergency conditions causes the lubricant to be released so as to reduce the friction between the inner face of the tire cover and the ring.
Abstract:
A fluid-containing bag of sheet material mounted on the radially inner surface of a stabilizer ring as by an adhesive or metal clips for retaining fluid during normal inflated operation of the tire and releasing the fluid in response to rotation of the tire tread portion in engagement with the radially outer surface of the stabilizer ring. The fluid may be released by an increase in temperature softening a plug in the wall or the adhesive in a seam between walls of the bag. The fluid may also be released by the rupture of a flexible tube extending from the bag to the radially outer surface of the stabilizer ring.
Abstract:
A lubricant container for a pneumatic tire and wheel assembly, the container having an orifice in which is located an elastomeric stopper, the stopper having three co-axial portions, the end portions being of smaller dimensions than the central portion which is arranged to be an interference fit within the orifice.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire and wheel assembly containing a lubricant composition for lubricating the internal surfaces of the assembly when in use in a deflated or substantially under-inflated condition. The composition includes a volatile component to at least partially reinflate the assembly and a puncture sealing material comprising a shredded and/or ground plastics material. A lubricant composition is also included.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a pneumatic tire-rim construction which has excellent run-flat characteristics which enables the tire to be run-flat on the rim without destroying the remaining useful life of the tire. The construction comprises providing the tire-rim combination with thin-walled capsules containing a lubricant-sealant material in the tire''s inflation chamber. These capsules are crushed when the tire is run un-inflated, thereby releasing the lubricant-sealant material into the inflation chamber of the tire. This material decreases the friction between the contacting surfaces of the tire when it is run un-inflated, thereby preventing any frictional damage to the tire.
Abstract:
A radial ply tire comprises a tread, sidewall and bead regions. At least the region of severe flexing of the sidewall when the tire is run in a deflated or substantially under-inflated condition comprises a rubber compound which has a rebound resilience of at least 87 percent, and more preferably of at least 90 percent, measured by the Lupke pendulum method according to B.S. 903/1950 and a hardness in the range of 45 - 65 Shore A.
