摘要： A vehicle wheel includes: a pair of rail members configured as separate members from the rim and fixed to an outer circumferential surface of a well portion of a rim of a wheel; and a sub air chamber member serving as a Helmholtz resonator and disposed between and supported by the rail members. A method of manufacturing the vehicle wheel is also provided. The method includes the steps of: fixing the pair of rail members to the outer circumferential surface of the well portion; and attaching the sub air chamber member to the well portion through the pair of rail members such that the sub air chamber member is supported between the pair of rail members, wherein the rail member fixing step includes fixing the pair of rail members using a jig with the rail members spaced apart by the predetermined distance.

Each of the annular projections includes a radially outer face and a laterally inner face. Right and left covers are spaced from each other and are preferably coupled to the rim to cover at least a portion of the laterally inner face and the radially outer face of the first and second annular projections, respectively, and also the first and second bead seats, respectively. One or both of the right and left covers can be fiber reinforced. First and second pieces of tape can be overlapped and used to secure the covers to the rim.

The composite wheel assembly includes a wheel having an inwardly facing surface, an outwardly facing surface, a generally cylindrical barrel portion, and a plurality of apertures formed about a central hub aperture. At least one wheel cladding is fixedly bonded to at least one of the inwardly facing surface, the outwardly facing surface, and the generally cylindrical barrel portion. The wheel cladding increases the stiffness and/or strength of the wheel between about 2-16% or greater as compared to the wheel not having the at least one cladding.
