Abstract: The disclosed invention is directed to a watercraft which comprises at least one main force member attached to at least one wing; the main force member and/or wing and/or a float attached to the wing comprise sufficient displacement to provide flotation for the craft and its payload. Connected to the main force member is a force transmitting member, to which the engine is connected. The engine may comprise a person or another engine (conventional, electronic, wind, etc.). The engine may comprise a weight which undergoes vertical translation, thereby producing the force transmitted by the force transmitting member to the main force member.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for generating thrust. The method, system and apparatus can include a fuel that may be accelerated into one or more openings on a rotating wheel. The rotating wheel, which may be balanced, may then have a temporary increase in mass in one location on the wheel. Additionally, the fuel that is accelerated into one or more openings in the wheel may be decelerated and may exert an outward force on the wheel. This generation of force can be repeated and increased to provide thrust.

Abstract: The invention comprises a method of using a scalable, configurable “propulsor” system to move and navigate a submersible device through a fluid medium. A propulsor system is an assembly of individual propulsors that act in concert to form a substantially continuous control surface that undulates in a working fluid. Each propulsor is driven and configured by computer-controlled actuators so that the control surface undulates in various wave forms. Optional actuators that may refine the surface shape include an “orientation” actuator that drives rotation about the propulsor's longitudinal axis, and a “geometry” actuator that controls each propulsor's geometric configuration.

Abstract: Underwater power generation for an underwater vessel is provided when the vessel transits through an underwater thermocline. At least a portion of the shell of the vessel is made from a thermally conductive material. Thermo-to-electric energy converters are electrically coupled together with each converter having a first surface thermally coupled to the shell's inner surface. A phase change material is thermally coupled to each opposing second surface of the converters. The phase change material has a phase change temperature that is between the upper and lower temperature extremes of the underwater thermocline's temperature range. The converters generate electrical power as the underwater vessel transits through the underwater thermocline.

Abstract: A mixture of a fuel gas obtained by vaporizing hydrocarbon and air is burned in an engine 11 to generate mechanical power. The fuel gas obtained by reforming the hydrocarbon is supplied to a fuel electrode layer of a fuel cell module 13 in which plural electric power generating cells each including a solid electrolyte layer, and a fuel electrode layer and an air electrode layer disposed on both sides thereof are laminated, and the air or oxygen is supplied to the air electrode layer, so that the fuel cell module 13 is constructed to be capable of generating electric power at 930null C. or lower. One of or both of mechanical power generated by the engine 11 and electric power generated by the fuel cell module 13 are outputted. As a raw material of the fuel gas supplied to the fuel cell module, gasoline, light oil or the like which can be supplied in a normal gasoline station can be used.

Abstract: A water vessel containing a central hump or dome underneath the vessel, with a waterjet system pumping water downward into the hump. The invention utilizes waterjet propulsion and hull shape to create water hump lift. A waterjet system pumps water from the front of the vessel downward into the hump underneath the center of the vessel. This produces lift and reduces the water friction against the water vessel. This also creates a wave or hump of water beneath the vessel, enabling the vessel to ride down the resulting wave. The size and shape of the water hump depends on the velocity and angle of the waterjets. Baffles are utilized at the front and sides of the water vessel to direct water away from the vessel, or towards the vessel, as needed to further the efficiency of the system.

Abstract: A pivoting sailing rig adapted for use on a vehicle, such as a watercraft, includes a frame with spaced apart primary shafts which are oriented to rotate about and move axially along axes which are generally parallel to the center line or fore-aft axis of the watercraft. Wing sails are mounted on coupling elements secured to the primary shafts and are connected to rigging for rotating the wing sails about their longitudinal axes to vary the angle of attack, respectively. The primary shafts include control arms and rigging for rotating the primary shafts between substantially upright positions of the wing sails and laterally declined and reefed positions of the wing sails. The wing sails may include solar collectors mounted thereon and may be oriented in use to take advantage of wind as well as sunlight conditions to optimize sailing as well as energy collection.
