    摘要: Polymers are obtained by reacting one or more of the compounds, tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium salts, tris hydroxymethyl phosphine oxide and their derivatives containing 2 or more phosphorus-linked methylol groups, with an ethylenimine compound selected from the monomers, polymers and nitrogensubstituted methylol derivatives of ethylenimine and the C-substituted derivatives thereof where the substituents are aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic, alkyl aromatic or aromatic alkyl groups. Suitable ethylenimine derivatives are 2-methyl-, 2 - phenyl -, 2,3 - diphenyl - and 2 - methyl-3,3 - diphenyl - ethylenimine, the polyethylenimines and the reaction products of formaldehyde with such compounds. Other compounds containing groups which condense with a phosphorus linked methylol group may be added to the starting materials or to the partially polymerized products. Such compounds are amides such as urea, melamine, acrylamide and guanidine, their methylol and alkylated derivatives, primary and secondary amines, polypeptides, and phenols. The polymers pass through the stages of water-soluble liquids to water-soluble semi-solid resinoids and then to resilient, spongy, insoluble materials. They may be used for flameproofing textiles, for the manufacture of articles and coating compositions and as modifiers for other resins. Specification 740,269 is referred to.

Ionene polymers typically are persistent in an environment because they degrade slowly, however, it is sometimes desirable to have a polymer that degrades over time. Ionene polymers that have one or more hydrolyzable groups in the polymer backbone represent a type of ionene polymer that degrades with time, and the size of the resulting polymer fragments can be controlled by the placement of the hydrolyzable groups.
