    摘要: A flame-retardant composition is prepared by mixing 100 parts by weight of a rubber or plastics free from any halogen with about 50 to about 200 parts by weight of magnesium hydroxide having an average particle diameter of about 0.3 to about 2 .mu.m and about 5 to about 50 parts by weight of carbon black powder having an oil absorption of about 0.5 to about 2.0 ml/g, and then cross-linking the mixture with an organic peroxide, sulfur, or a sulfur compound as a vulcanizing agent. By forming an electrical insulation and/or a sheath of the flame-retardant composition, there is provided a flame-retardant cable of the type including a cable core composed of an electric conductor coated with the electrical insulation or a plurality of such cores twisted together and covered, together with a filler, with the sheath. The flame-retardant composition and the flame-retardant cable using this composition possess high flame resistance while possessing acceptable mechanical properties and will not evolve any hydrogen halide or other noxious gas if burnt. With less smoke emission than conventional cables on fire, the composition and the cable are less hazardous.

    摘要: A glass-reinforced, fire-retardant, arc-track resistant polyamide composition characterized in that it contains:(a) at least 35% by weight of a fibre-forming polyamide,(b) 15% to 30% by weight of glass fibres or particulate fillers,(c) 17.5 to 27.5% by weight of melamine or melamine cyanurate,(d) 1 to 10% by weight of brominated fire retardants selected from a brominated polyphenylene oxide or a brominated epoxy resin, and(e) a synergist selected from zinc oxide, zinc borate, a mixture of zinc oxide and zinc borate and a mixture of antimony oxide and zinc borate, wherein the concentration of oxide present in the synergist is between 0 and 5%, the concentration of borate present is between 0 and 25% by weight, and the total weight of synergist is at least 1%, the weight percentages of the constituents (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) totalling 100%.

    摘要: Nucleating agents have been discovered which enable molded articles to be prepared with smooth glossy surfaces from blends of polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate in the "wet state", i.e., without the resin having been subjected to a predrying stage.The present invention is directed to polyalkylene terephthalate resin compositions. Specifically, it is directed to undried blends of polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate resins with nucleating agents which enable these resin blends to be molded into articles with smooth glossy surfaces. In a preferred embodiment, fillers and/or reinforcing materials are added without subjecting the resin to a predrying treatment which has been heretofore necessary in the prior art.

    摘要: A thermal barrier comprising a heat responsive intumescent insulating matal partially filling open cells in a layer of fire retardant honeycomb material. The thermal barrier is adhesively bonded to the inner surface of an aircraft skin panel. The intumescent material is in thermal contact with the skin and expands in response to heat conducted through the skin. The intumescent material may comprise one or more of a wide variety of matrix systems and fillers. Interior upholstery adhesively bonded to the honeycomb material completes the thermal barrier installation.
