    摘要: A mounting assembly has a machine element with a threaded coaxial bore on a shaft, for rotation with the shaft. A split sleeve having external threads is provided and adapted to be fit into the element's threaded bore and mounted around the shaft at any desired position longitudinally and circumferentially. The threads of the split sleeve have apexes at a uniform diameter when unstressed. The threads of the split sleeve are shaped to cause contraction of the sleeve, when threaded into the element's bore, to secure gripping engagement with the shaft so that it frictionally clamps onto the machine element.

In an initial stage of fastening the bolt and the nut, axial force in the bolt is generated when a part of a bearing surface of the inner screw of the nut seats on a part of a screw of the bolt due to rotation of the nut. Then the axial force is also enlarged proportionally to an increase in rotation angle of the nut to enlarge the seating area.

    摘要: A locking nut comprising at least two nut portions and at least one frangible bridging portion and a method of making a locking nut. The nut portions are made from a single nut. Each nut portion has an outer gripping surface and a centrally disposed threaded aperture for receiving and engaging a screw. The bridging portion is integral with the nut portions and is disposed to a side of the aperture adjacent to the gripping surface. The nut portions are disposed on either side of the bridging portion so that the apertures are axially aligned, the threads are aligned and a space is defined between opposing faces of the nut portions. By applying torque to one of the nut portions relative to the other nut portion, the bridging portion is sheared and opposing faces of the nut portions are brought into contact and the nut portions are locked in place.

    摘要: A steel bar joint includes at least one internally threaded sleeve and at least one externally threaded bolt that are screwed together to serially connect two steel bars to each other. The bolt is provided on at least one free end surface with equally spaced radial splits, and a spike dowel is located in an inner bottom of the sleeve to align a pointed bar of the spike dowel with a convergent hole of the radial splits on the free end surface of the bolt. When the bolt is fully screwed to the inner bottom of the sleeve, the pointed bar of the spike dowel is forced into the convergent hole on the bolt to expand open the radial splits, so that the free end of the bolt is tightly located in the sleeve to effectively prevent the whole steel bar joint from shaking or loosening.

    摘要: A new plug is formed with a diametrical slot in the interior threaded end and an axial through hole. A spring unit is positioned in the through hole and slot. The spring unit is formed with a diametral slot that extends from the interior end of the plug well down into the post portion of the spring unit and therefore into the through hole. The spring unit is assembled to the plug prior to heat treatment of the spring unit. Fixturing of the spring unit determines the spring rate of the unit and, in combination with the fit of the spring unit in the slot and through hole, the amount of live contact of the unit with the threads of the hole into which the plug is to be threaded. The holding torque of the plug is thereby determined. The new plug eliminates the present need for external capture devices or stainless steel wires through holes in the plug exterior in aircraft applications.
