    摘要: The present invention is one or more torque converter clutch friction pad attached to a friction plate configured to more easily remove heat generated by the friction of a clutch engaging the friction plate. The invention resides in one or more circular grooves set into the friction surface of the friction pad and connected to a plurality of radial grooves. One or more boats or protrusions functionally attached to the clutch pressure plate and/or the torque converter housing fits into the circular groove. When the clutch is engaged, the boats rotate through the circumferential groove pulling oil from the rear radial groove into the circumferential groove and pushing oil into the forward radial groove. The heat generated in the friction plate is transferred to the oil in the circumferential groove and removed from the friction pad when the rotating boat pushes it into the forward radial groove.

    摘要: A hydrodynamic clutch device includes a clutch housing connected to a drive, a pump wheel connected to the clutch housing, and a turbine wheel connected to a takeoff, the turbine wheel and the pump wheel forming a hydrodynamic circuit. A bridging clutch which is essentially surrounded by the hydrodynamic circuit includes a piston and a friction surface which can be acted on by the piston to connect the drive to the takeoff independently of the hydrodynamic circuit, the piston having one surface facing a pressure space and an opposite surface facing the hydrodynamic circuit. A pressure circuit includes a first pressure medium line to supply the hydrodynamic circuit with clutch fluid and a second pressure medium line to supply the pressure space with clutch fluid. A seal at least reduces the exchange of fluid between the hydrodynamic circuit and the pressure space, and a throttle allows a defined exchange of fluid between the hydrodynamic circuit and the pressure space.

    摘要: The torque converter includes a torque input member and an impeller assembly operatively coupled with the torque input member. A turbine assembly is connected with the impeller and a lock-up clutch is interposed between the turbine assembly and the torque input member. The lock-up clutch provides torque translation between the torque input member and the turbine assembly and includes an annular piston mounted to the turbine assembly and a friction plate movably supported relative to the annular piston and operatively disposed between the annular piston and torque input member. A first friction member is operatively disposed between the friction plate and the torque input member, and a second friction member is operatively disposed between the friction plate and the annular piston. Torque is translated from the torque input member through the first friction member, the friction plate, the second friction member, and the annular piston to the turbine assembly.

    摘要: A hydrokinetic torque converter is provided with a lockup clutch wherein the piston and other constituents of the lockup clutch are adequately cooled during each stage of operation of the torque converter and its clutch. The piston of the lockup clutch and/or the component which cooperates with the piston to transmit torque from the housing directly to the turbine of the torque converter is provided with a friction lining which establishes a portion of the path for the flow of fluid coolant between the fluid-filled compartments at opposite sides of the piston. The rate of fluid flow between the compartments is regulated by one or more adjustable valves which are carried by the housing of the torque converter and/or by the piston of the lockup clutch.
