    Abstract: A motor vehicle transmission (1) includes a transmission housing (2) with torque converter (4) accommodated in the transmission housing (2) and a first oil guide device (9) positioned at an axial side of the torque converter (4). A housing wall (11) of the transmission housing (2) encloses the torque converter (4) radially outwardly at least in sections and has an inner surface (17) with an inner diameter configured such that a gap (13) defined by the inner surface (17) of the housing wall (11) and an outer surface (39) of the torque converter (4) is configured to convey oil from a first area (15) of the motor vehicle transmission (1) into a second area (16) of the motor vehicle transmission (1) during a rotary movement of the torque converter (4). The second area (16) is arranged above the first area (15) in an installed position of the motor vehicle transmission (1).

    Abstract: Presented are torque converters (TC) with planetary-type vibration dampers, methods for making/using such TC assemblies, and vehicles equipped with such TC assemblies. A TC assembly includes a TC housing drivingly connected to a prime mover to receive torque therefrom, and a TC output member drivingly connected to a transmission to transfer torque thereto. Rotatably mounted within an internal fluid chamber of the TC housing are juxtaposed turbine and impeller blades. The impeller blades are rotatably mounted to the housing. A TC clutch is operable to lock the TC housing to the TC output member. A torsional vibration damper, which is disposed within the internal fluid chamber, includes a sun gear attached to the TC output member for unitary rotation, a ring gear attached to the TC clutch for unitary rotation, and a planet carrier intermeshed with the ring and sun gears and attached to the turbine blades for unitary rotation.

    Abstract: A hydraulic circuit supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid to and from a torque converter that is operatively associated with a lockup clutch. The torque converter is disposed upstream of an outlet regulator that maintains a predetermined pressure in the torque converter. Power transmission in a powertrain can be directed through the torque converter during a hydrodynamic mode and can be directed through the lockup clutch during lockup mode. To switch between the hydrodynamic mode and the lockup mode, the hydraulic circuit includes a diverter valve to selectively direct pressurized hydraulic fluid between the torque converter and the lockup clutch. When operating in the lockup mode, the diverter valve further diverts hydraulic fluid discharged for the torque converter to bypass the outlet regulator disposed downstream of the torque converter.
