摘要: A torque converter includes a torque converter body and a lock-up device. The torque converter body includes an impeller, a turbine having a turbine shell, and a stator. The lock-up device directly transmits a torque from a front cover to the turbine, and includes a damper portion and a clutch portion to which the torque from the front cover is inputted. The damper portion includes an output-side member, a plurality of elastic members and a holder plate. The output-side member is coupled to the turbine shell. The plurality of elastic members elastically couple the clutch portion and the output-side member in a rotational direction. The holder plate is rotatable relatively to the output-side member, and holds the plurality of elastic members. The holder plate is supported at an inner peripheral end thereof by an outer peripheral surface of the turbine shell and positions the damper portion in a radial direction.

摘要: A torque converter is provided. The torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller shell and a turbine axially movable to frictionally engage the impeller shell such that the turbine forms a piston of a lockup clutch. A first pressure chamber is defined axially between the turbine and the impeller shell. The torque converter further includes a reaction plate positioned axially between the front cover and the turbine. A second pressure chamber is defined axially between the reaction plate and the turbine and a third pressure chamber is defined axially between the reaction plate and the front cover. A method of forming a torque converter is also provided.

摘要: A hydrokinetic torque coupling device features a casing comprising a casing shell and an impeller shell, an impeller, a turbine-piston, a damper assembly comprising a drive member non-moveably connected to the turbine-piston and a driven member elastically coupled to the drive member, and a clutch member comprising a clutch plate and a connecting member extending through the damper assembly and non-moveably interconnecting the clutch plate with the turbine-piston. The clutch plate has an axially outer surface facing an engagement surface of the casing. The turbine-piston is axially displaceable relative to the casing to move the clutch member axially toward and away from the engagement surface of the casing for positioning the hydrokinetic torque coupling device into and out of a lockup mode in which the clutch member and the casing frictionally interlock with one another so that the casing is non-rotatable relative to the turbine-piston.

摘要: A torque converter includes an impeller shell and a backing plate defining at least a portion of a first hydraulic chamber, a cover and a piston plate defining at least a portion of a second hydraulic chamber, and a third hydraulic chamber. The third chamber is sealed from the first and second hydraulic chambers such that a hydraulic flow between the third chamber and the other chambers is at least restricted. In some example embodiments, the torque converter includes a turbine, a stator, and an impeller disposed within the first hydraulic chamber, and a lockup clutch including a piston plate. The first chamber is for being pressurized to prevent cavitation in the turbine, stator, or impeller, the second or third chamber is for being pressurized to engage the lockup clutch, and the other of the second or third chamber is for being de-pressurized to reduce a back pressure on the lockup clutch piston plate.

摘要: An output rotary member is coupled to a turbine and rotatable relatively to a clutch portion. First elastic members elastically and rotation-directionally couple the clutch portion and the output rotary member. A dynamic damper device is coupled to any of members forming a power transmission path from the clutch portion to the output rotary member and includes a damper plate having a plurality of circumferentially extending first openings and to be rotated together with the output rotary member. The dynamic damper device also includes inertia members disposed on both axial sides of the damper plate and rotatable relatively to the damper plate, each of the inertia members having circumferentially extending second openings located to oppose the first openings. The dynamic damper device further includes second elastic members accommodated in the first openings and the second openings, the second elastic members elastically coupling the damper plate and the inertia members.

摘要: A lock-up device includes a clutch portion and a damper mechanism. The clutch portion includes a clutch output member, a clutch plate, an oil chamber plate having a disc shape and a piston. The oil chamber plate is disposed between a front cover and an inner peripheral part of a turbine, while being axially immovable with respect to the front cover. The piston is disposed between the front cover and the oil chamber plate while being axially movable. The piston forms a first oil chamber for lock-up actuation together with the oil chamber plate, and forms a second oil chamber for lock-up releasing together with the front cover.
