Abstract: A hybrid module includes a rotor carrier. The hybrid module further includes a rotor segment supported by the rotor carrier. The hybrid module further includes a torque converter having an impeller having an impeller shell fixed to the rotor carrier. The impeller shell and the rotor carrier define a housing therebetween. The torque converter further includes a turbine having a turbine shell in fluid communication with the impeller shell. The turbine is disposed within the housing. The hybrid module further includes a drive plate assembly disposed external to the housing. The drive plate assembly includes an inner drive plate fixed to the rotor carrier. The drive plate assembly further includes an outer drive plate fixed to the inner drive plate and configured to receive a torque.

Abstract: A torque converter includes a torque converter body and a lock-up device. The torque converter body includes an impeller, a turbine having a turbine shell, and a stator. The lock-up device directly transmits a torque from a front cover to the turbine, and includes a damper portion and a clutch portion to which the torque from the front cover is inputted. The damper portion includes an output-side member, a plurality of elastic members and a holder plate. The output-side member is coupled to the turbine shell. The plurality of elastic members elastically couple the clutch portion and the output-side member in a rotational direction. The holder plate is rotatable relatively to the output-side member, and holds the plurality of elastic members. The holder plate is supported at an inner peripheral end thereof by an outer peripheral surface of the turbine shell and positions the damper portion in a radial direction.

Abstract: A lock-up device for a torque converter transmits a torque from a front cover to a transmission-side member through a turbine. The lock-up device includes a clutch portion and a damper portion. The clutch portion includes a clutch plate and transmits the torque from the front cover toward the turbine. The damper portion includes an elastic member, a holding member and an output-side member. The elastic member attenuates a fluctuation in the torque. The holding member holds the elastic member and is provided with an engaging part integrated therewith. The engaging part is engaged with the clutch plate. The output-side member is rotatable relatively to the holding member within a range of a predetermined angle. The output-side member transmits the torque toward the turbine when the torque is transmitted to the elastic member through the holding member.

Abstract: An oil-flooded single-plate or multi-plate lockup clutch is provided in a torque transfer device. The torque transfer device may, for example, be a converter, a dual clutch, a starting clutch, a manual shifter, or power shifting clutch, having a piston to engage the clutch and a damper. In accordance with the present disclosure, the piston together with a housing of the torque transfer device forms a closed pressure chamber when the clutch is engaged and at least one oil flow opening is provided in the piston in an area outside of the pressure chamber. The torque transfer device preferably has a damper and the piston of the clutch forms a part of the damper and may be designed as a retainer for springs of the damper.

Abstract: A lock-up device includes a clutch portion, a piston, a sleeve and an oil chamber plate. The clutch portion is disposed between the front cover and a turbine. The piston is movable in an axial direction. The piston turns the clutch portion into a torque transmission state. The sleeve is fixed to a front cover and includes an outer peripheral surface and a protrusion. The outer peripheral surface supports an inner peripheral surface of the piston such that the piston is movable in the axial direction. The protrusion has an annular shape and protrudes radially outward from the outer peripheral surface. The oil chamber plate has a disc shape and is joined to a piston-side lateral surface of the protrusion of the sleeve. The oil chamber plate defines an oil chamber together with the piston therebetween. The oil chamber is supplied a hydraulic oil for activating the piston.

Abstract: Lock-up clutch engagement hydraulic pressure learning control can be precisely performed by starting lock-up clutch engagement control and executing the lock-up clutch engagement hydraulic pressure learning control after execution of shift control is completed, in a case where the lock-up clutch engagement control is limited in a shift stage before execution of the shift control, when the shift control is executed in a state where a multi-disc lock-up clutch is released. Meanwhile, a decrease in fuel efficiency performance and a direct steering feeling is minimized by starting the lock-up clutch engagement control during shift control in a case where the lock-up clutch engagement control is not limited.

Abstract: A torque converter includes a cover arranged for driving engagement with a crankshaft and a connecting sleeve with an internal thread arranged for engaging an external thread of the cover or the crankshaft to directly connect the cover to the crankshaft. In some example embodiments, the connecting sleeve includes a cylindrical portion including the internal thread and a first radial wall disposed at a distal end of the cylindrical portion. In an example embodiment, the cover includes a hub portion with a pilot arranged for insertion into a recess of the crankshaft. In some example embodiments, the cover includes a face spline for engaging a crankshaft face spline or a conical surface for engaging a crankshaft conical surface.
