Abstract:
An image-forming apparatus includes a recording head configured to eject ink droplets, a transport belt disposed facing the recording head and configured to transport a sheet, a suction mechanism to suctionally attract the sheet to the transport belt, a release mechanism configured to change a position of the transport belt between a home position close to the recording head and a release position away from the recording head, and a control mechanism configured to control transport and discharge of the sheet. The control mechanism, is configured to move the transport belt from the home position to the release position with the sheet being attracted to the transport belt when the control mechanism detects a sheet jam, rotate the transport belt in a direction in which the sheet is transported at the release position, and then discharge the sheet from the transport belt.
Abstract:
A stripper blade system has been developed for high throughput inkjet printers. The stripper blade system includes a metallic blade having a leading edge that is less than 0.06 mm in thickness, a blade holder to which the metallic blade is mounted, and an actuator that is associated with the blade holder to move the metallic blade into and out of contact with an intermediate imaging member.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive body to be developed by a conductive toner, a charger which charges a surface of the photosensitive body with a surface potential, a power supply which supplies one of a normal charging power to perform a normal charging operation and a compensation charging power, having a different absolute value than the normal charging power and having the same polarity as the normal charging power, to the charger, and a controller which controls the power supply to supply the normal charging power and the compensation charging power to the charger, respectively, before and after a charging time at which a rear end contact surface of the photosensitive body contacting a rear end of a printing medium is charged by the charger.
Abstract:
A method for assisting in stripping a substrate from a charge receptor that is operable to transfer marking material to the substrate at a transfer zone, comprising determining the solid area coverage of the transfer marking material at a leading region of the substrate at the leading edge thereof, moving the substrate through the transfer zone, and applying a stripping force to the leading region of the substrate as a function of the solid area coverage operable to at least partially strip the leading region of the substrate from the charge receptor when the leading region of the traverses the transfer zone.
Abstract:
In an image forming apparatus a primary transfer is carried out such that toner images on a plurality of photoreceptors are transferred and laminated onto an intermediate transfer member, and a recording paper and the intermediate transfer member are sandwiched between a secondary transfer roller disposed so as to be in contact with the intermediate transfer member and a secondary transfer counter roller disposed opposite to the secondary transfer roller, to carry out a secondary transfer that the toner images on the intermediate transfer member are transferred onto the recording paper. At the time, an electric field is applied to the recording paper, and further the secondary transfer counter roller is switched by a switch between grounded state and floating state so that a potential difference between the intermediate transfer member and the secondary transfer roller can be adjusted.

Abstract:
Apparatus for registering a copy sheet prior to feeding the sheet to the image-transfer station of an electrophotographic copier. Opposing pairs of relatively rigid feed rollers are arranged on shafts in alternating relationship with opposing pairs of relatively compliant feed rollers, which are of somewhat larger diameter than the rigid rollers so as to form nips of appreciably greater extent in the direction of feed. Registration gates mounted for rotation on one of the roller shafts through slipping couplings are selectively restrained against rotation with the roller shaft either in a non-blocking position out of the feed path or in a blocking position within the nip area of the compliant rollers but upstream of the nip area of the rigid rollers. A crimper having an anvil rotating with one of the registration gates and a hammer supported by the anvil for pivotal movement into a recess in the anvil deforms a leading edge portion of the copy sheet as it is advanced from the registration rollers to facilitate separation of the sheet from the photoconductor after image transfer by a pickoff element spaced from the photoconductor.
Abstract:
A recording medium processing device includes: a pair of contacting members including a first contacting member and a second contacting member, the first contacting member and the second contacting member contacting each other at a contact portion and contacting a recording medium passing through the contact portion, a contact position of the second contacting member on the first contacting member changing in response to displacement of the second contacting member with respect to the first contacting member in a state of being held in a position for recording medium transportation; and a guide member mounted to the second contacting member, the guide member guiding the recording medium having passed through the contact portion at which the first contacting member and the second contacting member contact each other.
Abstract:
A paper separating device for separating a paper sheet includes a frame member, an image carrier, a securing plate, and two types of assemblies. The two types of assemblies include: a first assembly that includes a separation claw configured to separate the paper sheet from the image carrier, a guiding member configured to guide the paper sheet, and a holder with an engaging portion; and a second assembly that engages the guiding member alone to the holder with the engaging portion without holding the separation claw. The frame member and the securing plate each include an assembly securing portion with an engaged portion to be engaged with the engaging portion of the holder. One of the two types of assemblies is secured to the assembly securing portion disposed at the securing plate while another is secured to the assembly securing portion disposed at the frame member.
