Abstract: Embodiments for optimizing a backup operation for a data protection system, by connecting with network devices in a network implementing the backup operation, the backup operation implementing a policy that specifies a plurality of service requirements and that is initiated at a time within a plurality of time windows, and determining a size of dataset to be backed up by the backup operation. The method further monitors a flow of data between a source and a destination of data in the network, compiles historical data of operational parameters for data transfers between the source and destination, and determines an optimum time within the plurality of time windows based on the dataset size and the historical data.

A system includes at least one hardware processor coupled to memory and configured to decode a replication request received from a client device of a data provider. A replication group object is generated based on the replication request. The replication group object includes a manifest. The manifest lists the plurality of account objects. The replication of the plurality of account objects is performed from a source account of the data provider into at least one target account. The replication is based on the manifest of the replication group object.

Abstract: Nonvolatile data storage systems, methods, and devices are disclosed. In one example, a nonvolatile storage device includes a volatile memory, a controller electrically coupled to the volatile memory, a nonvolatile memory electrically coupled to the controller, and a backup power source electrically coupled to the controller, the volatile memory, and the nonvolatile memory. The controller is configured to read and write primary data from a primary host and mirrored data from a secondary host in the volatile memory. The backup power source is configured to store sufficient energy to power the nonvolatile storage device during a backup operation. The controller is configured to, in response to a backup signal, copy the primary data and the mirrored data stored in the volatile memory to the nonvolatile memory.

Abstract: Illustrative embodiments represent a dynamic on-demand approach to configuring destination storage for bare metal restore (BMR) operations without operator intervention, including destination storage that is smaller than source storage devices. The illustrative operations rely on system state information collected concurrently with or shortly after source data is backed up, thereby capturing current actual storage metrics for the source data. The illustrative embodiments further rely on enhanced data agent components to collect and restore system state information as well as to restore backup data, thereby streamlining the configurations needed for the BMR operation to proceed. Additional business logic matches source mount points with suitable smaller destination storage resources and ensures that the BMR operation successfully completes with diverse and/or smaller storage destinations.

Abstract: A variable checkpoint mechanism in a streams manager checkpoints a streaming application based on periodic time periods for checkpoints. The variable checkpoint mechanism can take a checkpoint before a periodic time period ends when a spike is coming, or can take a checkpoint after the periodic time period ends when there is backpressure in a consistent region of the streaming application. When there is no anticipated spike coming and when there is no backpressure in a consistent region of the streaming application, the checkpoint is performed at the normal end of the periodic time period for checkpoints. In this manner the checkpoint timing of the variable checkpoint mechanism can be adjusted real-time to minimize the negative impact of checkpointing on the performance of the streaming application.

Abstract: A data backup method and a data processing system are provided. The method includes: when a quantity of storage files stored in a storage medium meets a preset threshold, acquiring storage files which are stored in the storage medium after a time point, where the time point is a time of previously backing up storage files in the storage medium; combining the storage files after the time point to obtain at least one new storage file; and backing up the at least one new storage file.
