Abstract:
A memory device removably insertable into or otherwise removably connected to a plurality of host devices includes a first memory storing multimedia data. A first circuit portion of the memory device determines the host device capabilities when the memory device is connected to a host device and a second circuit portion feeds the multimedia data to the host device in a format compatible with the determined capabilities of the host device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for a remote control device. Means for detecting orientation of the remote control device couples to a processor. The processor is operative to change a mode of operation of the remote control device in response to a change in the orientation.
Abstract:
A remote control device is which key use is monitored. A command key, representative of an appliance function, may be correlated to a target appliance that is determined, as a function of the monitored key use, to be the most likely intended recipient of a command to perform that appliance function. An activity key may also be programmed so as to perform a series of actions that are representative of a sequence of monitored key uses.
Abstract:
Actuating a security system includes providing a first set of access codes to a wireless device and causing the wireless device to transmit the first set of access codes to a first controller that actuates the security system. The first set of access codes provided to the wireless device may expire. Actuating a security system may also include providing expiration dates for each of the first set of access codes provided to the wireless device. Actuating a security system may also include examining each of the expiration dates and, in response to a particular expiration date being prior to a current date, erasing from the wireless device a particular one of the first set of access codes that corresponds to the particular expiration date.
Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a data processing apparatus that can employ together application programs for both a portable telephone and a contactless card terminal and that can communicate with an external device in accordance with a predetermined protocol by using, as needed, an appropriate application program, and a data processing method that uses this data processing apparatus. A hybrid portable communication terminal, which serves as a data processing apparatus and comprises terminals having different communication systems, can employ together or selectively, as needed, an application program for a telephone terminal and an application program for performing various data processing procedures, with an external communication terminal, using close-range contactless communication.
Abstract:
A hand-held control device is disclosed for communicating with and controlling the operation of a remotely located electronic apparatus such as a television, VCR or other device. The control device has a display screen for displaying control functions and information for the operation of the remote electronic apparatus and a transmitter and a receiver for communicating between the remote electronic apparatus and the hand-held control device. A user interface, such as a touchpad or soft keys allows a user to make control selections for operating the remote electronic apparatus. A removable, programmable memory is provided for storing therein control and other format information for a particular electronic apparatus to be operated. The removable memory attaches to the control unit via a port for receiving the removable memory module. A controller responsive to the contents of the removable programmable memory controls the operation of the hand-held control device for controlling the operation of the remote electronic apparatus, in response to user control selections. In the preferred embodiment the removable programmable memory is a flash memory module. The memory module can be programmed by cloning it from another control unit, by an adapter used with a PC, or downloaded from the Internet.
Abstract:
A universal remote controller includes a card and a housing. The card includes an information tag. The housing includes a touch panel, a slot, a reader, a memory, a processor, and a signal transmitter. The memory is used for storing a plurality of databases. When the card is inserted to the slot, the reader in the housing induces the driving signal corresponding to the information tag of the card. The processor enables a corresponding database from the memory according to the driving signal and further provides a plurality of remote control functions on the transparent touch panel corresponding to positions of a plurality of key images according to the enabled database.
