Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure generally relate to security for a credit card processing reader. Part of security for a reader is protecting sensitive components, for example components that access information from a credit card during a transaction. An alternative security configuration may include integrated circuits replacing portions of electrically active mesh. This may reduce the size and cost of a reader while maintaining its security with respect to published guidelines.

Abstract: A system and method of setting and charging a fixed donation amount provides a convenient contactless payment for donations. The system includes at least one portable donation terminal and at least one administrator personal computing (PC) device. The portable donation terminal is communicably coupled to the administrator PC device. An administrator may be a cashier, a clerk, a clergy member, and so on. The method begins by outputting a fixed charging amount with the portable donation terminal. Donation information is received through the portable donation terminal. The donation information is processed for the fixed charging amount. An administrator is prompted to generate a receipt of the fixed charging amount for the donation information. At least one remote server may also be communicably coupled to the administrator PC device in order to provide a reference identifier for the receipt. The receipt is outputted with the administrator PC device.

Abstract: The present technology pertains to storing transaction information for transactions with merchants in association with an identifier of a buyer, and transmitting an electronic receipt, including the transaction information to the buyer. The present technology includes a system and methods for associating a transaction card number with the user identifier of the buyer, such that the transaction information can be associated with the user identifier of the buyer even when the merchant does not receive the transaction card number or the user identifier of the buyer.

Abstract: A method and system of smart card banking utilizes a contactless communication interface, such as infrared or a wireless or radio frequency interface, including, for example, a proximity interface. A contactless communication is initiated for a smart card user between a smart card application and the on-line system of a financial institution, such as a bank, the system verifies authorization for the communication, the information is communicated for the user to the on-line system. The contactless communication is initiated, and the information is communicated, for example, between a contactless interface transceiver of a personal data assistant, into which the smart card is inserted, and the contactless interface transceiver of an on-line terminal. Alternatively, the contactless communication is initiated, and the information is communicated between a contactless interface transceiver of the smart card and the contactless interface transceiver of the terminal.

Abstract: A hybrid mobile payment architecture includes a wired network, a wireless network and a mobile point-of-sale module. The wired network is in communication with a point-of-sale system and a payment system. The wireless network is in communication with the wired network. The mobile point-of-sale module includes a credit card reader, a mobile electronic device and an adapter. The credit card reader transmits a wired network signal. The mobile electronic device includes a wireless transmission unit. The wireless transmission unit is in communication with the wireless network to transmit a wireless network signal. The adapter is electrically connected between the credit card reader and the mobile electronic device. When a domain-switching function is executed to perform conversion between the wired network signal and the wireless network signal, the payment system performs an authentication and verification process.

Abstract: A nontraditional transaction device, for example a mobile device, may be employed to complete a transaction. The mobile device may utilize radio frequency (RF) communication and/or authentication to facilitate completion of a transaction. Secondary identification information, for example voice recognition data, biometric recognition data, or alphanumeric data, may be utilized for secondary end user authentication. For security reasons, the mobile device account data may transmitted after the secondary identification information is verified.

Abstract: A card reader is provided with a read head with a slot and is configured to be coupled to a mobile device and has a slot for swiping a magnetic stripe of a card. The read head reads data on the magnetic stripe and produces a raw magnetic signal indicative of data stored on the magnetic stripe. A power supply is coupled to wake-up electronics and a microcontroller. An output jack is adapted to be inserted in a port of the mobile device and deliver an output jack signal to the mobile device. The wake-up electronics is powered by a microphone bias of a mobile device.

Abstract: A thin-client access card has a card body with partial or fully emissive magnetic data tracks. An emissive element is disposed in the card body under the location of the legacy magnetic data tracks. An electronic signal conditioner converts audio signals from a mobile device into magnetic data applied to the emissive element. A swipe sensor detects when the thin-client access card is being swiped by a legacy card reader, and triggers an output of magnetic data from the emissive element while proximal to the POS reader head. A cable attaches the thin-client access card as a peripheral to the mobile device with an audio output jack.

Abstract: A decoding system with a decoding engine running on a tablet. The decoding engine decodes signals produced from a read of a buyer's financial transaction card, accepts and initializes incoming signals from a read of a buyer's financial transaction card until the signals reach a steady state, detects the read of the buyer's financial transaction card once the incoming signals are in a steady stat, identifies peaks in the incoming signals and digitizes the identified peaks in the incoming signals into bits. A transaction engine runs on the tablet and is coupled to the decoding engine. A payment system is in communication with the transaction engine and with a buyer's financial transaction card institution or a first party's financial account.
