A system and method for using a webpad to select a target device which is to receive from a source device a stream of a digital representation of a media. The webpad is used to send a transmission to the source device to cause the source device to route the stream of the digital representation of the media to the target device where the target device decodes and converts the digital representation of the media into analog signals to thereby allow for a reproduction of the media.

The method of delivering data from a source to a remote device includes a network node, different from the source, developing a schedule for delivery of the data to the remote device based on scheduling parameters including an available RF spectrum of, a plurality of regional broadcast stations, the network node selecting a frequency and a particular one of the plurality of regional broadcast stations from among a set of available frequencies of the plurality of regional broadcast stations, communicating the data and the selected frequency to the particular one of the plurality of regional broadcast stations in accordance with the schedule, and the regional broadcast station broadcasting the data, in accordance with the schedule, via radio waves.

The protection of data against illicit transfer with respect to specific data can be ensured. An integrated receiver decoder determines whether or not ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) data requiring authentication is contained in selected piece-of-music data in accordance with determination data added into transmitted data. When ATRAC data requiring authentication is contained, the integrated receiver decoder performs an authentication process between it and a storage which is a transfer destination of the ATRAC data, and performs downloading of the ATRAC data after confirming that the storage is a valid apparatus to which the downloading may be performed.

Method and apparatus for providing authenticated, secure, communication between a gaming host communicating via radio frequency (RF) subcarriers to a remote user device in another location. Location of the remote user device and the host server are determined by accessing signals generated by either Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, or by terrestrial radio broadcast stations, through a process known as radio frequency triangulation telemetry tracking (RF-3T). Player authentication (identity verification) is determined by use of a personal identification number (PIN). A remote user device may be implemented as a stand alone or self-contained single unit that is portable and can receive communications via radio frequency, or may be implemented as one or more discreet components adapted to be used with a laptop, a personal digital assistant (PDA), or desktop personal computer (PC).

Systems and methods for delivering program related contents to electronic devices using existing broadcast networks. The methods include receiving a program signal of a program content and supplementary content which is associated thereto, combining the supplementary content with the program signal to form a data-augmented signal which is subsequently modulated with a carrier signal for broadcasting to conventional broadcast receivers. At the receiver, the supplementary content is recovered and delivered to the electronic devices at substantially the same time as the program content is rendered at the receivers.

The system may further comprise circuitry in the mobile terminal that switches between processing of the broadcast information received via the VHF/UHF broadcast communication path and the cellular information received via the cellular communication path based on a measured broadcast signal statistic associated with a signal bearing the broadcast information and a measured cellular signal statistic associated with a signal bearing the cellular information. The broadcast information and the cellular information may be the same information. The broadcast information and the cellular information may comprise video data. The cellular information may comprise voice data.

Method and apparatuses for broadcasting and receiving a programme are presented. A programme is broadcast from a broadcasting system. Broadcast programme-associated data is transferred from a server to a cellular radio network. The broadcast programme-associated data is transmitted from a base station of the cellular radio network at a specific frequency defined for the cellular radio network in such a manner that the transmission of the broadcast programme-associated data is synchronized with the broadcasting of the programme. The programme and the broadcast programme-associated data is received with a subscriber terminal of the cellular radio network in such a manner that a programme receiver of the subscriber terminal receives from the broadcasting path of the broadcasting system the programme and a cellular radio network transceiver of the subscriber terminal receives the broadcast programme-associated data at a specific frequency.

A data broadcasting system receives profile information representative of information desired by subscribers to the data broadcasting system. Broadcast content in one or more broadcast regions may be adjusted in response to changes in aggregate user preferences in the region.
