Abstract: In some implementations, a first device can record a display screen of a second device remotely. For example, the first device (e.g., a remote computing device) can receive information identifying other computing devices on a network. The first device can receive a selection of one of the other computing devices (e.g., the second device) and send a message to the second device to initiate a recording of the display screen of the second device. In response to receiving the message, the second device can record video frames of images presented on the display of the second device. The second device can send the video frames to the first device for display and/or storage. While recording the images presented on the display screen, the second device can present indicia on the display screen of the second device indicating that a screen recording is in progress.

Abstract: Techniques for real-time DVR programming employ secure instant message protocol in a DVR environment. An embodiment sends an instant message to the DVR which causes the DVR to open a new secure connection with the service provider for synchronizing data on the DVR with updated programming data from the service provider. Another embodiment uses an already established connection with an instant message server for synchronizing data on the DVR with updated programming data from the service provider.

Abstract: An electronic device including: one or more processors to control operations thereof, to simultaneously process multiple wireless signals received from a plurality of multimedia devices transmitting streaming media content and to transmit the processed wireless signals to another one of the plurality of multimedia devices; a storage device to store received broadcast media content; and a network controller to wirelessly receive streaming broadcast media content from a plurality of broadcast media sources, to provide a wired and a wireless connectivity to the plurality of multimedia devices, to exchange media processing capabilities between the electronic device and the plurality of multimedia devices after establishing network connections therebetween, to receive a wireless signal including streaming media content from at least one of the plurality of multimedia devices, and to stream a processed version of the received wireless signal including streaming media content to another one of the plurality of multimedia devices, the processed version of the received wireless signal including streaming media content being processed based on the received media processing capabilities of the multimedia device receiving the transmitted wireless signal including streaming media content.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for secure transfer and playback of multimedia content enables the secure transfer of multimedia content from a digital video recorder (DVR) to a personal computer (PC) and further to a handheld device. A DVR determines which devices on a Local Area Network (LAN) are authorized to share and/or retrieve content from the DVR. The DVR receives a connection request from a PC on the LAN, authorizes the connection request and establishes a secure connection between the DVR and the PC. Once the secure connection is established, the DVR receives a request for multimedia content from the PC, prepares the multimedia content for transfer and transfers the multimedia content to the PC.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods to manage recording of streaming packetized content (such as for example live IP packetized content) for access, retrieval and delivering thereof to one or more users. In one embodiment, the foregoing is accomplished via communication between a recording manager and a receiver/decoder device. The recording manager manages and schedules recording of content on behalf of the receiver/decoder device (and/or mobile devices) disposed at a user's premises. The recording manager runs one or more computer programs designed to receive requests to record packetized content from one or more consumer devices, and use metadata contained within the requests to cause a cloud storage entity or premises storage device to record the content at its scheduled date/time (either via the receiver/decoder device itself, or another network entity). In this manner, the recording manager provides digital video recording (DVR) functionality to devices that would be otherwise incapable of scheduling a recording and/or recording such content.

Abstract: A display device including a display; a first external interface configured to be connected to a first external device; a second external interface configured to be connected to a second external device; and a controller configured to display, on the display, an external source list menu including first connection port information for identifying the first external interface and second connection port information for identifying the second external interface, receive a first image content from the first external device connected to the first external interface, and display, on the external source list menu, a first moving image obtained from the first image content after receiving a first capture start signal until receiving a second capture end signal from a remote controller, wherein the first moving image is displayed on a first position corresponding to the first connection port information identifying the first external interface in the external source list menu, and receive a second image content from the second external device connected to the second external interface, and display, on the external source list menu, a second moving image obtained from the second image content after receiving a third capture start signal until receiving a fourth capture end signal from the remote controller, wherein the second moving image is displayed on a second position corresponding to the second connection port information identifying the second external interface in the external source list menu.
