Abstract:
A mechanism for supporting a traveling body includes a traveling body which reciprocates and shifts, a track member extending in a direction in which the traveling body shifts, a track surface provided in the track member to slide the traveling body, a drive section that drives the traveling body, and a slide member provided in the traveling body to support the traveling body slidably via a lubricant between the track surface and the slide member. The slide member includes a slide contact portion that slides on the track surface, a slide barrier portion provided on at least one side of the slide contact portion along a slide direction of the slide contact portion, and a guide portion which scrapes the lubricant in association with sliding of the slide contact portion, and guides the lubricant to between the slide contact portion and the slide barrier portion.
Abstract:
A document reading device is capable of preventing distortion or twisting occurring in a document conveying device from being transmitted to a reading carriage incorporated in the document conveying device. A document reading device includes a second reading carriage provided in a document conveying unit and configured to read a surface of a document different from a surface read by a first reading carriage, a support frame having a support surface supporting the second reading carriage, a retaining member retaining the second reading carriage by sandwiching the same between itself and the support frame, and an elastic member provided between the second reading carriage and retaining member to press the second reading carriage against the support frame. One of the support surface of the support frame and a supported surface of the second reading carriage supported by the support surface is formed into a curved surface.
Abstract:
There is described an imaging device for capturing images of at least portions of moving objects. The system comprises a stationary camera lens configured for reproducing an image of at least a portion of each moving object in an imaging plane when said object moves across a capturing region. The device further comprises at least one image sensor located in the imaging plane for receiving the reproduced image of the at least a portion of the corresponding moving object and converting said image into electronic signals. The at least one image sensor is mounted on a sensor support adapted to be actuated in a manner that the at least one image sensor is moved in the imaging plane relative to the stationary camera lens, and in a manner that the motion of said at least one image sensor is synchronized with the motion of the moving object to be captured. This ensures that there is substantially no relative movement between the reproduced image in the imaging plane and the image sensor when said moving object moves across the capturing region. As a result motion blur of the captured image of the at least a portion of each moving object is prevented or significantly reduced.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a drive source, a speed change mechanism provided in a transmission unit that transmits a driving force from the drive source to a scanning drive unit. The speed change mechanism is configured to change a transmission ratio of the transmission unit by selectively bringing one of first and second couplings into a connected state. The image reading apparatus further includes a selector configured to selectively bring one of the first and second couplings into the connected state, a detector configured to detect the connected state of the second coupling, and a controller configured to control a scanning position of the reading unit based on the transmission ratio changed via the second coupling after the detector detects the connected state of the second coupling after the selector changes selection from the first coupling to the second coupling.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus comprises: a guide portion that is linked to a driving portion and extends so as to guide the movement of a reading carriage; a guide rail that guides the reading carriage while supporting the reading carriage; and an interlocking portion that is provided in the reading carriage, has a first sliding surface that makes contact with the guide rail on the side of the guide rail facing the guide portion and a second sliding surface that makes contact with the guide rail on the side of the guide rail that is on the opposite side as the guide portion. The position at which the first sliding surface of the interlocking portion makes contact with the guide rail is lower on the guide rail than the position at which the second sliding surface of the interlocking portion makes contact with the guide rail.
Abstract:
An image scanning device includes a housing, a scanning carriage, and a first guide groove and a second guide groove. The housing includes a bottom chassis and a side wall member, and defines a document tray. A scanning carriage is movably arranged in the housing. The first guide groove and the second guide groove are arranged at the side wall members of the housing, and guide the scanning carriage in a scanning direction.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus for reading a document placed on a document positioning plate using a reading sensor unit mounted on a carriage includes a rack member provided in an apparatus body and having rack teeth provided along the moving direction of the carriage, a pinion gear rotatably disposed on the carriage and meshed with the rack teeth, a motor mounted on the carriage and driving the pinion gear, an urging member disposed between the carriage and the reading sensor unit and urging the reading sensor unit toward the document positioning plate, a guide rail provided in the apparatus body and guiding movement of the carriage, and a guide portion provided on the carriage and engaged with the guide rail, wherein the guide portion is pressed toward the guide rail by receiving a reaction force of the urging member at the carriage.

Abstract:
A scanner, including a contact image sensor module and an elasticity-providing element, is provided. When scanning, the elasticity-providing element is capable of avoiding vertical shift of contact image sensor module resulting from mechanical friction or other unexpected. Therefore, the contact image sensor module can retrieve clear images all the time.
Abstract:
The invention provides an adjustment jig provided with a pattern for adjusting the direction of a reading line of a scanner which reads a target image line by line, which comprises a holder section for holding the scanner, a first pattern provided adjacent to a target reading line to be read by the scanner when the reading line direction of the scanner held is correctly adjusted, and a second pattern provided adjacent to the target reading line on the side opposite to the first pattern with the target reading line positioned therebetween, the second pattern being different from the first pattern in the brightness of at least one of hues which can be read by the scanner or in the width thereof in the reading line direction.
