Abstract:
An image reader is provided, which includes a first analog front end unit configured to perform A/D conversion for analog signals that are output via a first group of channels of a number resulting from rounding up, to a closest whole number, an average value between a number of at least one channel for a first image reading unit and a number of channels for a second image reading unit, among analog signals output from the first image reading unit and the second image reading unit, and a second analog front end unit configured to perform A/D conversion for analog signals that are output via a second group of channels other than the channels in the first group, among the analog signals output from the first image reading unit and the second image reading unit.
Abstract:
An image reader is provided, which includes a feeder feeding a document sheet, a first reading sensor, a first reference member, a moving mechanism moving the first reading sensor to a document reading position to read an image of the document sheet and a reference reading position to read an image of the first reference member, and a controller that controls the moving mechanism to move the first reading sensor to the reference reading position, controls the first reading sensor to read the image of the first reference member, and controls the moving mechanism to move the first reading sensor to the document reading position after the first reading sensor reads the image of the first reference member. The controller controls the feeder to start feeding the document sheet to the document reading position before the first reading sensor reaches the document reading position from the reference reading position.
Abstract:
A document scanning device reads an image on a document while scanning the image, and generates image data based on the image. The document scanning device selects and sets a scanning speed in accordance with a transfer mode used when the document scanning device transfers the image data to another apparatus. The document scanning device controls the amount of generated image data by using the set scanning speed to successively read the image, whereby optimal transfer processing in accordance with the transfer mode can be performed. By switching a transfer path in accordance with the type of the read data, i.e., binary data per pixel or multilevel data per pixel, efficient data transfer can be performed.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a platen for placing the original, a reading device for reading the original placed on the platen to obtain image data in a first reading mode or a second reading mode; a transport device for transporting the original to be capable of returning the original to the platen; and a detection device for determining whether the image data read by the reading device is a first kind of data or a second kind of data. A control device operates the transport device for ejecting the original and outputting the image data read in the first reading mode when the image data is the first kind, and operates the transport device to return the original to the platen and actuates the reading device to read in the second reading mode when the image data is the second kind.
Abstract:
An optical system for an image forming apparatus which a first light source for selectably emitting a plurality of image forming light beams based upon control signals and a second light source for emitting image forming light beams of a number of less than that of said first light source. The first light source of the optical system selectably emitting multiple light beams and a single beam, e.g. selectably emits two beams and a single beam.
Abstract:
A light beam modulated with image information has its optical axis moved in a given direction by a light beam moving unit, and reflected successively by a plurality of rotating reflecting mirrors of a spinner to a photosensitive medium. The movement of the light beam which is caused by the light beam moving unit is controlled depending on the speed at which the reflecting mirrors move and the direction in which the reflecting mirrors move, so that the light beam reflected by each of the reflecting mirrors can scan the photosensitive medium. An image represented by the image information can efficiently be recorded on the photosensitive medium.
Abstract:
The present invention encompasses a scanning optical system such as internal drum photoplotters that has a raster scanner for advancing a circularly polarized optical beam across a substrate surface in a first direction to form a scan line and for advancing the optical beam in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. There is a curved platen for receiving a substrate and an apparatus for switching the optical beam polarization between first and second directions in response to polarization control signals;. An encoder generates signals indicative of the position of the optical beam along a current scan line. There is a controller that receives the encoder signals and generates the advancement signals and the modulator control signals. The controller further provides the optical beam polarization switching signals in dependence on the encoder signals such that the optical beam polarization is switched after the completion of the current scan line. The system is characterized by a spinner which uses polarization switching to generate two scan lines per spinner rotation.
