摘要: A garment (1) for providing compressive forces to a torso to help eliminate or reduce swelling caused by an accumulation of lymph fluid in the torso region. An embodiment of the present invention includes an outer covering (10) of compression fabric, wide shoulder straps (22, 24), front and back panels of compression fabric (12, 14, 16, 18), a non-rolling rib band (72), axilla gussets (82, 84), and both front closure (40) and back closure (50). The garment may also include one or more princess seams (102, 104, 102′, 104′) so as to enable the front panel(s) to encapsulate and hold the user's breasts in place at the same time that compressive forces are applied, as well as one or more front shelves (132, 134) in the front panel(s) for providing upward compressive support to the breast tissue, thereby holding the tissue in a proper neutral position so that inward compressive forces acting on the tissue provide maximum effect. Through the use of the present invention, a user can provide the proper amount of compressive support that is required for each area of the torso. To wit, the user can set the adjustable closure to a desired tightness and provide up to four different levels of support over the torso region.

摘要: A method for splinting rib injuries is disclosed. A pair of anchor strips having a plurality of fasteners on their exposed surfaces are attached to the skin of the chest cavity by an adhesive, the strips being more or less vertically oriented and equidistantly spaced from the injury. Elastomeric straps having a plurality of fastener receivers are removably fastened to the anchor strips across the injury so as to produce a stabilizing/reducing force at the injury. Tension in the straps and orientation of the straps are adjusted to maximize patient comfort. In another embodiment a pad is placed between the elastomeric straps and the chest wall. In other embodiments the pad is a hot or cold compress. In yet another embodiment the pad is connected to a cold therapy machine.

摘要: A device for providing natal support and alleviating pain in a pregnant woman includes a support member, an apron, and a strap, with the strap removably attached to the apron. The strap may be removed after installation and adjustment of the natal support on the pregnant woman. The natal support alleviates pain by providing support to the lower abdomen and distributing the weight of the fetus and enlarged uterus over a large portion of the lower back. Additionally, the strap facilitates installation and proper positioning of the natal support on the human body by holding the apron in place on the back while it is being adjusted.

摘要: An article for lifting an incapacitated person includes a thin elongate belt formed of an elastic, flexible rubber-like material. Fasteners are mounted at the ends of the belt for attaching the ends so that the belt may encircle a patient. The width of the belt between its lateral sides is sufficient so that when worn, the belt extends from the waist to the chest of a wearer. A plurality of flexible handles are fixed to the belt in spaced apart relation.

摘要: A one-part bandage for the clavicle, with a back strap extending crosswise over the back, to which shoulder straps are connected which cross under the armpits and extend over a clavicle. The straps cross in the region of the middle of the back strap at the crossing place, and run out over the hips to the abdomen into connecting end parts, whereby the end parts are joined together by means of an adhesive seal. This configuration is made of non-elastic strap material. The shoulder straps are applied at places that are distanced from one another on the back strap on its side turned away from the back, whereby support places are each formed by an adhesive seal, whose adhesive part is introduced on the back strap and whose coating part completely covering the respective adhesive part is formed by the respective shoulder strap.

摘要: A figure adjusting pad is capable of permitting a periphery of the pad to exhibit satisfactory shape retention without any independent core. The pad includes a silicone gel element formed therein with perforations and a stretchable fabric arranged for covering the silicone gel element and is trimmed. The perforations of the silicone gel element are formed by traces defined by elution of particles incorporated in a silicone gel stock solution for the silicone gel element. The trimmed portion includes the silicone gel element and is double-sewn together with the silicone gel element.

摘要: A soft body brace for providing support for certain types of patients includes an inner layer of soft compressible plastic material and an outer layer of soft compressible plastic material, the outer layer of soft compressible plastic material being bonded to the inner layer of soft compressible plastic material and along with the inner layer defining a shell configured to circumscribe the torso of the wearer and having a split portion. A plurality of sleeves of flexible material are sandwiched between the inner and outer layers and a reinforcing stay is fixedly disposed in each sleeve for maintaining the brace in its intended shape. Releasable fasteners are attached to the split portion for maintaining the brace in place on the wearer. In making the soft body brace the shell is first fabricated and then shaped as necessary to conform to the shape of the intended wearer. Reinforcing stays are then cut to size bent as needed to conform to the shape of the wearer at their intended locations and inserted into their respective sleeves. The ends of the sleeves are then sealed off to prevent removal of the reinforcing stays. The fastener assemblies are then attached to the split portion of the shell.

摘要: A belt for joggers, cyclists and other recreationists, having a forwardly shining light to reveal hazards along the path, along with an insulating, sweat producing liner on the body side of the belt, for maximum sweat production for local loss of fatty tissue. The belt also may be worn, at the option of the wearer, in a folded condition without contact of the body with the insulating material, then no longer serving as a sweat generating device.
