Abstract:
The present technique provides a system and method for improving atomization in a spray coating device by internally mixing and breaking up a desired coating fluid prior to atomization at a spray formation section of the spray coating device. An exemplary spray coating device of the present technique has an internal fluid breakup section comprising at least one fluid impingement orifice angled toward a fluid impingement region. In operation, the internal fluid breakup section forms one or more fluid jets, which impinge one or more surfaces or one another in the fluid impingement region. Accordingly, the impinging fluid jets substantially breakup particulate/ligaments in the coating fluid prior to atomization. The resulting spray coating has refined characteristics, such as reduced mottling.
Abstract:
A disposable liquid storage and transfer device for storing and transferring a plurality of liquid droplets to one or more substrates, the device comprising a plurality of reservoirs for holding a respective volume of liquid, each reservoir having a dispensing outlet at a distal end through which a desired amount of liquid can be dispensed from the reservoir at irregular intervals determined by a user, an inlet at a proximal end, and an actuator provided at a distal end of the reservoir which when activated results in the ejection of the desired amount of liquid from the dispensing outlet.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a nozzle type atomizer with two or more aligned nullhornnull stages. The definition of a nullhornnull stage is well known in the prior art as an effectively half wavelength length and a tapering shape with a central conduit. The present invention uses two to five, or more, horn stages integrally attached end to end. The dramatic improvement in amplitude of the vibration at the tip of the nozzle is without precedence in the prior art. The present invention makes application of transducer vibration at greater than 200 kHz possible. The present invention reduces the required applied energy for generating the necessary amplitude at the tip by the discovery of amplitude multiplication with two or more horn stages.
Abstract:
Method and device for continuously producing a coherent layer of a liquid/melt of even thickness by means of centrifugal action along the entire periphery of a rotating disk (13, 113), liquid/melt being supplied to the disk around its entire axis of rotation from means (12, 112) and leaving the disk as individual droplets. The means (12, 112) distributing the liquid/melt onto the disk (13, 113) has according to the invention essentially the same speed and direction of rotation as the disk, and the liquid/melt undergoes under the influence of centrifugal action circumferentially a spreading and change in velocity across the disk (13, 113) in contact with the same.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for heating spray equipment hoses used during inclement weather can heat water, or other medium, to a desired temperature, circulate the heated water in thermal contact with, but separated from, the spray equipment hoses to heat the material therein and generally maintain the material at an appropriate temperature to facilitate spraying.
Abstract:
An aerosol generator includes a fluid supply which supplies fluid to a fluid passage, a main heater which heats the fluid into a gaseous state and a preheater which delivers a volume of fluid to the main heater. The preheater can be located in or adjacent a metering chamber which receives a predetermined volume of fluid, the preheater heating a portion of the fluid so as to form a vapor bubble which ejects the remaining fluid from the chamber. An outlet of the aerosol generator is arranged to receive the volatilized fluid formed by the main heater and direct the volatilized fluid out of the fluid passage. The aerosol generator can be used to generate aerosols containing medicated materials.
Abstract:
Droplets are formed from a liquid by supplying liquid to a feeding rotor and rotating the feeding rotor about an axis to discharge the liquid generally radially outwardly by centrifugal force. A distributor disposed radially outside of the feeding rotor is rotated relative to the feeding rotor about the axis to receive liquid discharged from the feeding rotor. A slinger disposed radially outside of the distributor is rotated relative to the distributor about the axis to receive liquid discharged from the distributor by centrifugal force. The slinger slings that received liquid is slung outwardly in the form of droplets from cusps distributed circumferentially around an outer periphery of the slinger.
Abstract:
A double angle rotospray dispenser including: (a) a rotatable shaft; and (b) a dispensing tip connected to a free end of the rotatable shaft. The dispensing tip includes: (i) a first angled surface extending outwardly from the shaft axis; (ii) a second opposing angled surface connected to the first angled surface and extending inwardly towards the shaft axis; and (iii) a terminal surface located at a bottom end of the dispensing tip, adjacent to the second opposing angled surface.
