摘要: An ignition cone composition including an alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal iodide or oxyiodide in combination with a principal oxidizer consisting of an alkaline metal mono-oxide and usually, an auxiliary oxidizer consisting of one or more alkaline metal and alkaline earth metal peroxides and chlorates which term includes the chlorates and perchlorates. This composition is included as a separate top layer in compressing a chemical oxygen generator composition or other composition to be ignited by the ignition cone compositions. In the preferred form, a water filled fracturable vial is associated with said layer so that upon fracture, the water causes initiation of said ignition cone composition, usually best preformed through the use of an uncompacted or loose powder first fire composition of similar content as said ignition cone composition.

摘要: A primer includes a layered thermite coating comprising alternating layers of metal oxide and reducing metal (thermite) deposited upon a substrate. The layered thermite coating may include a primary ignition portion adjacent to the substrate, and a secondary ignition portion deposited on the primary ignition portion. The alternating thermite layers may be thinner within the primary ignition portion than in the secondary ignition portion. The primary ignition portion is structured for sensitivity to a firing pin strike to the opposite side of the substrate. The secondary ignition portion is structured to burn at a rate that will ignite smokeless powder or other ignitable substances used in munitions.

摘要: The present invention relates to a nano-energetic material (nEM) composite having ignition and explosion characteristics by a low-power laser pointer beam and capable of being remotely and optically ignited by adding black powder to nEM composite powder, and a method of preparing the same. The nEM composite includes: nEM composite powder; and black powder used as a mediator for initial ignition to initiate ignition in response to a laser pointer beam and cause a nEM to be continuously ignited and consecutively explode by ignition heat.

摘要: An energetic material comprising an elemental fuel, an oxidizer or other element, and a carbon nanofiller or carbon fiber rods, where the carbon nanofiller or carbon fiber rods are substantially homogeneously dispersed in the energetic material. Methods of tailoring the electrostatic discharge sensitivity of an energetic material are also disclosed. Energetic materials including the elemental fuel, the oxidizer or other element, and an additive are also disclosed, as are methods of reducing ignition sensitivity of the energetic material including the additive. The additive is combined with the elemental fuel and a metal oxide to form the energetic material. The energetic material is heated at a slow rate to render inert the energetic material to ignition while the energetic material remains ignitable when heated at a fast rate.
