    摘要: A coaxial connector for interconnection with a coaxial cable with a solid outer conductor by friction welding is provided with a monolithic connector body with a bore dimensioned for an interference fit with an outer diameter of the outer conductor. A friction groove may be formed around the leading end of the outer conductor by application of a friction weld support against the inner diameter and leading end of the outer conductor. The friction groove may include a material chamber formed between a radial friction protrusion of the bore and a bottom of the friction groove. The friction weld support may be provided with ceramic surfaces contacting the outer conductor, a stop shoulder dimensioned to abut a cable end of the bore and/or an elastic insert seated within an inner conductor bore.

    摘要: A method for preparing a terminal end of a cable to connect to a cable connector is provided. The method includes stripping a jacket, an insulating layer, and a corrugated outer conductor from a first section of a coaxial cable, stripping the jacket from a second section of the coaxial cable, and axially advancing a terminal end of the corrugated outer conductor beyond a terminal end of the insulating layer, resulting in an open section of the corrugated coaxial cable having an open space between the corrugated outer conductor and the inner conductor. A tool for accomplishing the foregoing is further provided, and includes first and second opposing jaws that engage the inner and outer conductors, respectively, such that operating the tool causes a terminal end of the outer conductor to axially advance toward the terminal end of the inner conductor.

    摘要: A coaxial connector for interconnection with a coaxial cable with a solid outer conductor by friction welding is provided with a monolithic connector body with a bore. A sidewall of the bore is provided with an inward annular projection angled toward a cable end of the bore. A sidewall of the inward annular projection and the sidewall of the bore form an annular friction groove open to a cable end of the bore. The annular friction groove is dimensioned with a taper at a connector end of the friction groove less than a thickness of a leading end of the outer conductor. The taper provides an annular material chamber between the leading end of the outer conductor, when seated in the friction groove, and the connector end of the friction groove.

The tool can include a hydraulic assembly having an axially extendable ram, and a connector frame detachably attached to the hydraulic assembly. The connector frame can include a cable cradle configured to accommodate cables of various sizes and a sleeve for engaging a cable connector. The connector frame can further include a sliding guide structure attached to the cable cradle. The sliding guide structure can include a sliding bar and one or more sliding guides. The sleeve can be attached to the sliding bar. The sleeve can be configured to accommodate connectors of various sizes. Activating the hydraulic assembly can cause the ram to extend, which, in turn, can cause the sliding bar to move along the longitudinal axis of the cable connector compressing the compression member and connector body into operative engagement with the cable.

Further disclosed is a method of preparing a coaxial cable that includes inserting the coaxial cable into a cavity of a coaxial cable preparation tool and adjusting a gripping circumference within the cavity of the coaxial cable preparation tool. The gripping circumference is configured to grip an outer jacket of the coaxial cable. The adjusting is accomplished by the inserting of the coaxial cable into the cavity.

    摘要: Corrosion resistant coaxial cable. In one example embodiment, a method for manufacturing a coaxial cable includes various steps. First, a dielectric is extruded around a center conductor. Next, the dielectric is surrounded with an outer conductor. Then, a corrosion-inhibiting composition is applied to the outer conductor. Finally, the outer conductor is surrounded with a jacket. The corrosion-inhibiting composition includes a synthetic sulfonate salt dispersed in a paraffinic mineral oil. The synthetic sulfonate salt is present in the composition in an amount of from about 5% to about 10% by weight. The paraffinic mineral oil is present in the composition in an amount of from about 90% to about 95% by weight.

    摘要: The present invention provides a small-diameter coaxial cable in which the same electrical and mechanical characteristics as in the prior art can be maintained and costs do not increase. The coaxial cable comprises a central conductor including three twisted wires and having a cross-sectional area of 0.005 mm2 or less, a fluororesin insulation for covering the central conductor, an outer conductor disposed on the external periphery of the insulation, and a jacket for covering the outer conductor. The adhesive force between the central conductor and the insulation is one third or less the tensile strength of the central conductor. The method for manufacturing the coaxial cable comprises twisting three wires together to form a central conductor having a cross-sectional area of 0.005 mm2 or less, extruding a fluororesin and forming an insulation on the central conductor so that adhesive force with the central conductor is one third or less the tensile strength of the central conductor, and providing the insulation with an outer conductor and a jacket.
