    摘要: A first chip card is provided for use in a telecommunications terminal which is connected in a telecommunications network. The first chip card exchanges signaling and data directly with the telecommunications network at the telecommunications terminal. The first chip card includes a signaling and dam processor for processing the signaling and data exchanged with the telecommunications network and a signaling and data memory for storing signaling and data received from the telecommunications network and for storing signaling and data processed by the signaling and data processor. A telecommunications protocol processor of the first chip card processes multiple telecommunications protocols including both telecommunications protocols for radios and telecommunications protocols for wired communications. When the first chip card is inserted in the telecommunications terminal, the functionality of the telecommunications terminal is solely determined by the first chip card. A plurality of chip cards may be inserted in the telecommunications terminal, and the first chip card is further capable of checking whether at least one further chip card is inserted in the telecommunications terminal. The first chip card is also capable of exchanging signaling and data with another chip card in the telecommunications terminal.

    摘要: A public cordless telephone system which comprises abase unit and a branch unit connected to the base unit through a radio link to be used by many unspecified persons. The public cordless telephone system comprises a base unit connected to a public line network, a charger provided integrally with the base unit or separately therefrom, and at least one branch unit connected with the base unit through the radio link and having a battery as a power source, and removably mounted to the charger for charging the battery when mounted on the charger. The system detects the charge in the battery of the branch unit when the branch unit is mounted to the charger, and inhibits use of the branch unit when the remaining charge is insufficient to make a call. The system further includes a theft detection function that continuously transmits a theft signal from the branch unit until the battery of the branch unit is exhausted.

    摘要: Control equipment employed in a customer-owned public telephone station prevents a user from making unauthorized telephone calls in a telephone system. Operating under the control of a computer in the station, the control equipment employs a call screening process which restricts the telephone numbers a user can dial to those numbers preselected by a station owner. The telephone numbers are categorized in multiple but distinct groups, each of which represents a specific class of telephone call. The control equipment is responsive to momentary loop breaks occurring on tip and ring lines connecting the station to a central office, and to a loop break provided by the central office which reflects that the far end party has disconnected. The control equipment is also responsive to scheduled as well as unscheduled receipt of dial tone. The combination of the call screening process along with the ongoing loop break and dial tone detection and analysis conveniently provides the desired protection so that the user will be properly charged for telephone calls made from the station. The restrictions incorporated in the station for obtaining this protection are applied with minimal inconvenience for the legitimate user.

    摘要: Apparatus for controlling telephone set usage in a local telephone facility. Each potential telephone user has a card which identifies him and contains an authorization code. Prior to dialing, the user inserts the card into an accessory body which contains a reading mechanism. If the user dials an unauthorized call, the telephone set is disconnected from an outgoing telephone line. Other circuits collect and store detailed data relating to each authorized call. When the user completes a call, the data is transferred to a memory or other output device.
