Abstract: One general aspect includes a system having one or more heat pads installed at a vehicle, the one or more heat pads configured to provide infrared energy transmissions to a vehicle component to defrost, defog, or both defrost and defog a surface of the vehicle component. The system may also carry out the following steps: (a) determining that ice or fog or both ice and fog has accumulated on the surface of the vehicle component; and (b) based on the determination made in step (a), activating the one or more heat pads to defrost, defog, or both defrost and defog a surface of the vehicle component.

Abstract: A surface wiper device which includes a carrier which supports a blade. The carrier attaches to a wiper arm which urges the blade against and moves the blade across the surface of a windshield. The carrier further provides a plurality of outlets each of which communicate between a hollow passage inside the carrier and a location on the external surface of the carrier. A fluid can be delivered from a fluid source fluidicly coupled to the hollow passage of the carrier under sufficient pressure to be dispersed from the plurality of outlets onto the windshield during movement of the blade. A fluid heater can be thermally coupled with the fluid delivered from the fluid source to the plurality of outlets to increase the temperature of the fluid dispersed onto the windshield. The fluid can be sufficiently heated to generate a heated gas.

Abstract: A sensor cleaning system has anti-freezing and thawing functions in an air-jet sensor cleaning system. The sensor cleaning system includes a distributor having a channel into which compressed air is introduced and having a plurality of exits. The distributor is configured to distribute the compressed air from the channel to each of the exits. A valve of the system is formed integrally with the distributor and is capable of being opened or closed to allow or prevent supply of the compressed air through each of the exits. A heating element of the system is configured to apply heat to the distributor and a controller is configured to operate the heating element when a preset condition is satisfied.

The assisted sensor cleaning system further includes: a cooperative system including a cooperative compressor to produce compressed air used for the cooperative system, and a cooperative air tank to store the compressed air. The assisted sensor cleaning system includes: a gate set to selectively supply the compressed air from the cooperative system to the air cleaning system; and an integrated controller configured to at least partially control an operation of the gate set.

The heating conduit may comprise of any of the following: heating filaments that warms the wiper blade; heating filaments running within the windshield; an air vent that runs inside the wiper blade; and an air vent that runs parallel to the wiper blade.
