The electrical contact is such that the electrical path between the workpiece engaging elements of the clamp and the ground cable are all essentially identical, and the connection to the ground cable is spaced from the workpiece engaging elements. A handle locking assembly combines the advantages of both a spring assembly and a screw lock assembly and is located away from the workpiece engaging elements.

Also when a pair of probes at the lighted end is arbitrarily connected to the destination battery, the polarity of the destination battery is automatically indicated by means of light emitting diodes. The polarities of the source battery and the destination battery are displayed together on the face of one of the clamps at the lighted end. By a comparison of the indicated polarities the correct connection can be made.

    摘要: A self-contained and sealed package of exothermic welding material includes a cup-shape disposable ceramic container for such material which is closed at the top with a heat consumable cap. The bottom of the container includes a tap hole, the lower end of which is also closed with a formed cup-shape heat consumable disk. An insulated wire pair extends along an axial groove in the exterior of the container and through a radial groove through the lip of the cup beneath the cap. The end of the wire pair within the container has the insulation removed to form a spark gap which end extends at an angle away from the interior of the container and is embedded in the exothermic material. The ends of the wire pair outside the container have the insulation removed to a greater extent so that the wires can readily be bent and connected to power unit for generating a high energy spark at the gap. The package is mounted unopened on a seat on a refractory mold above a weld cavity which contains the parts to be welded and a hinged baffled mold cover closed. The wire pair having been bent to extend beneath the cover is connected to the spark generator. When the exothermic material is ignited the heat causes the package cap to be consumed and as the reaction proceeds the disk is consumed permitting the molten metal produced by the reaction to drop into the weld cavity. A major portion of the slag formed in the reaction remains in the ceramic container and is disposed of with the container while the refractory mold is reused.

    摘要: A junction box and battery jumper cable combination for use on vehicles with storage batteries. A cup shaped junction box has a flanged lip for mounting through body panel holes larger than the cup below the lip but smaller than the lip. Pull-in lugs on a screw actuated element are slidable along slots in the cup wall to approach the lip when the screw is actuated to secure the lip and, hence, the junction box to the body. The screw on each pull-in lug is accessible inside the junction box and access to the back side of the mounting area is not essential. Jumper cables adapted to work with the junction box has polarity selective cooperating terminals to assure correct polarity of circuitry. The jumper cables have a spring clamp equipped extension cables to mate with the end of the jumper cables to serve vehicles not equipped with the improved junction box. The junction box is adapted for wiring permanently to the host vehicle battery.

    摘要: A connecting mechanism for structural building system components for supporting radial, compression and tension loads by use of a captive, expanding/contracting jaw assembly which is caused to extended from an opening in the end of the connecting member into a connecting port located in the attaching component. The jaw assembly is then caused to expanded outward and to lock into the connecting port of the attaching component. Operation of the connecting mechanism is performed by causing an operating sleeve, which is located on the outside diameter of the connecting member, to be moved. This causes a structural bond to be made which firmly joins the connecting member and the attaching component. The procedure is reversed for simple removal of structural components or disassembly of the structure whenever desired.
