Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may transmit (or a base station may receive) a beam failure recovery (BFR) request based at least in part on detecting a beam failure while the user equipment is in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode; and the user equipment may receive (or the base station may transmit) a response to the BFR request, wherein the response uses a particular structure based at least in part on the beam failure occurring during the DRX mode. The wireless communication device may determine, based at least in part on the scaling factor, the periodicity of the backhaul PRACH resources. The periodicity of the backhaul PRACH resources may be extended as compared to a periodicity of access PRACH resources. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for beam management in wireless communication systems. In some examples, beam angle information (e.g., angles of arrival/departure) may be utilized to select one or more serving downlink beams for communication between a scheduling entity and a scheduled entity. The beam angle information may further be utilized to facilitate additional operations within a backhaul network, such as wireless node locating, obstacle locating, system mapping within the network topology, beam determination and beam sweeping configuration, and mobility management among wireless nodes of a backhaul network. In other examples, aperiodic uplink beam measurements may be triggered based on downlink beam measurement reports and/or in response to a request from a scheduled entity. The scheduling entity may then jointly select uplink and downlink beams based on both the received downlink beam measurement report and uplink beam measurements.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for dynamically configuring a schedule and a set of transmission resources for delivering additional system information. A first type of system information, such as remaining minimum system information (RMSI), may include configuration information indicative of the dynamically-configured schedule and set of transmission resources for delivering the additional system information, such as other system information (OSI). The dynamically-configured set of transmission resources for delivering the additional system information may be a control resource set (CORESET), and control information within the CORESET may be encoded with a radio network temporary identifier that is the same as or different than the first set of system information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for random access channel (RACH) timing in a wireless communication are described. A base station and a user equipment (UE) may perform a RACH procedure to establish a communication link between the base station the UE. The RACH timing associated with the RACH procedure may depend on the numerology used for the RACH procedure and may be conveyed by the base station to the UE in a control message or via system information. In some cases, the numerology may indicate the RACH timing, which may be used to determine a number of symbols or absolute time to be used for portions of the RACH procedure.

A base station may identify resources associated with a beamformed signal, the identified resources being used by a user equipment (UE) for channel measurements of the beamformed signal, the beamformed signal being one of a plurality of beamformed signals. The base station may generate a signal indicating at least a portion of the identified resources and transmit the signal to the UE. The UE may receive the signal and perform a channel measurement of the beamformed signal using the indicated resources. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a measurement report comprising the channel measurement associated with the beamformed signal.

Abstract: Wireless devices may employ techniques for indicating alternative modulation coding schemes (MCSs) (e.g., MCS values or MCS indices not associated with a default list or default MCS table). That is, communications (e.g., such as physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmissions carrying downlink control information (DCI), physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions carrying uplink grants, etc.) may include information (e.g., in MCS fields and reserved fields) that indicate alternative MCSs for subsequent communications. For example, random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) scrambled DCI, random access response (RAR) messages, etc., may indicate an alternative MCS for subsequent messages in a random access procedure (e.g., for a RAR, an RRC connection request, etc.). The alternative MCS may be conveyed by indicating information such as MCS scaling factors, alternative MCS table IDs, MCS indices associated with the alternative MCS table, or some combination thereof.
