Abstract: A machine learning system can generate an image mask (e.g., a pixel mask) comprising pixel assignments for pixels. The pixels can he assigned to classes, including, for example, face, clothes, body skin, or hair. The machine learning system can be implemented. using a convolutional neural network that is configured to execute efficiently on computing devices having limited resources, such as mobile phones. The pixel mask can be used to more accurately display video effects interacting with a user or subject depicted in the image.

Abstract: A method for detecting changes in a scene includes accessing a first set of images and corresponding pose data in a first coordinate system associated with a first user session of an augmented reality (AR) device and accessing a second set of images and corresponding pose data in a second coordinate system associated with a second user session. The method identifies the first set of images corresponding to a second image from the second set of images based on the pose data of the first set of images being determined spatially closest to the pose data of the second image after aligning the first coordinate system and the second coordinate system. A trained neural network generates a synthesized image from the first set of images. Features of the second image are subtracted from features of the synthesized image. Area of changes are identified based on the subtracted features.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating an alert on an eyewear device are provided. Abstract: A system includes a spatial light modulator comprising a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. Abstract: A light projector (2; 102) for an augmented reality headset is disclosed. The light projector includes an image generator (4; 104) configured to provide an image with unpolarised light and a beam splitter (6; 106) configured to receive unpolarised light from the image generator and to split it into a first path and a second path. A first optical arrangement is configured to receive light from the beam splitter in the first path so that light is reflected, focused and directed back towards the beam splitter. A second optical arrangement configured to receive light from the beam splitter in the second path so that light is reflected, focused and directed back towards the beam splitter, wherein the first and second optical arrangements comprise first and second mirrors (12, 22; 112, 122) respectively. The beam splitter is configured to receive and combine light from the first and second optical arrangements so that the combined light, which unpolarised, is provided to an exit pupil, and the first and second optical arrangements are angled relative to one another so that the image from the first path is aligned with the image from the second path.
