    摘要: A new and useful process for producing a plastic article (e.g., vinyl siding) with an accent color pattern incorporated therein, and a specially formed accent color pellet which is useful in such a process. The process contemplates extruding a plastic product from a base compound formed of powder sized particles and specially formed accent color pellets. The accent color pellets are alloyed masses of resins and pigment which are larger than the powder particles of the base compound, and have a higher deflection temperature than the base compound. The alloyed pellets are designed with controlled heat deflection characteristics. During the extrusion process, the accent color pellets begin to soften and disperse later than the base compound, and cause restricted dispersion of the accent color into the base compound, thereby producing accent color streaks in the resulting extrudate. The process is particularly suited for producing a simulated woodgrain or streaking effect in plastic. (e.g., vinyl) siding.

    摘要: A cable-coating extruder head having a head body with a central passageway for an advancing cable, a die insert removably seated in a fixed die body at the forward end of the passageway providing a die aperture through which the cable passes, and a guider insert removably mounted in a fixed guider body within the passageway for centering the cable in the die aperture, wherein both the guide insert and the die insert are insertable forwardly and removable rearwardly through the rearward end of the passageway to enable change of guider and die apertures without displacing the forward end of the head body. The guider insert has a rearward extension projecting beyond the head body for manipulation to facilitate guider insert removal and replacement. After a guider insert is removed, a shank having a threaded front projection is inserted forwardly into the passageway until the projection extends through and beyond the die aperture, a nut is threaded over the projection to secure the die insert to the shank, and the shank is withdrawn rearwardly to remove the die insert; this procedure is reversed, again using the shank and nut, to mount another die insert in the die body, before another guider insert is mounted in the guider body.

    摘要: A vent-type window structure, having one or more vent sashes each mounted by means of a pair of hinges respectively disposed at the opposite sides of the sash, wherein at least one of the sashes is positively secured to each of its associated hinges only by a single manually removable pin, to facilitate rapid removal of the sash or sashes for use of the window opening as an emergency egress opening. Each pin has a manually graspable ring at the inner side of the sash, and projects through the side of the sash and the associated hinge, being retained by a yieldable element abutting the hinge; when the pin is pulled manually in an axial direction toward the center of the sash, the latter element yields to enable extraction of the pin. The two pins respectively on the opposite sides of a sash are positioned so that they can be easily withdrawn together by pulling them toward each other. In a preferred embodiment, the yieldable element of each pin is a resilient ring seated in a groove formed around the end portion of the pin projecting beyond the hinge.

    摘要: A snap-on cover for window casings including elongated metal or like resiliently deformable case molding members mountable on brackets secured at spaced locations along a window casing. The case molding members snap onto the brackets; each bracket has a base, a pair of spaced, aligned seats projecting outwardly therefrom for engagement by the edges of a molding member, and a leg also projecting outwardly from the base for retaining the molding member against inward displacement. A screw extending inwardly through an elongated opening in the base and surrounded by a helical spring under compression between the screw head and the base secures the bracket to the subjacent casing or other structure in a manner enabling self-aligning positional adjustment of the bracket in several directions when a molding member is mounted thereon. The case molding members may be provided as overlapping sections, to accommodate a range of window dimensions. A complete casing cover kit may also include L-section trim members for covering the edges of a window casing inwardly of the margins of the molding members, and overlapping covers for a window sill.

    摘要: Aluminum 6201 alloy wire is produced by drawing solution-heat-treated rod down to wire of desired diameter, for winding onto spools, under conditions that deliver the wire to the spool at an elevated temperature within a specific range predetermined for wire of such diameter, immediately placing each spool in a medium that passively retards the temperature decay rate of the wire to a value of about 50.degree. to about 75.degree. F. per hour, and maintaining the spool in the medium for a period of up to about four hours, to effect artificial aging without use of an oven or furnace, and thereby to achieve an artificially aged product, e.g. a product having a wire conductivity of at least about 52.5% IACS and mechanical properties of T-81 temper.
