摘要: A tabletop converter has a conversion assembly that inwardly gathers and crumples a stock material to form a strip of dunnage. The conversion assembly includes a feeding assembly that moves the stock material and a controller that controls the feeding assembly to operate in both a forward direction and a reverse direction. To automatically separate a discrete dunnage product from the strip, a holder grabs and holds the strip of dunnage at a holding location downstream of the feeding assembly. The feeding assembly then operates in a reverse direction and urges the strip away from the holding location. This causes the strip to separate at or between the holding location and the feeding assembly, leaving a discrete dunnage product ready for use. The converter is mounted to a stand that allows the converter to rotate relative to part of the stand about both a horizontal axis and a vertical axis.

摘要: A system, and associated components and methodology, that provides for automatic determination and supply of an amount of dunnage to fill the void left in a container in which one or more objects have been placed. The system comprises a dunnage dispenser which is operable to dispense a controlled amount of a dunnage, a container scanner, and a logic device. The container scanner includes a height sensor for sensing a height characteristic of a container, a width sensor for sensing a width characteristic of the container, and a contour sensor for sensing a contour characteristic of the objects in the container. The logic device can (1) process sensed characteristic information from the height sensor, width sensor and contour sensor, (2) determine the amount of dunnage needed to fill the void not occupied by the objects, and (3) command the dunnage dispenser to dispense the determined amount of dunnage.

摘要: A cushioning conversion system (10) and method wherein a stock roll storage rack (14) is used to support at least one and preferably a plurality of stock rolls (21) at the same level as the stock roll holder (19) of a cushioning conversion machine (12). The stock roll storage rack (14), which stores the stock rolls (21) in a substantially horizontal array, enables an operator to easily load the machine (12) without having to lift a stock roll (21) to the height of the stock roll holder (19). Also, plural stock roll storage racks (14) can be used interchangeably, whereby one can be loaded with stock rolls (21) by an attendant while the other is used to load stock rolls (21) onto the cushioning conversion machine (12). The stock roll storage rack (14) includes a stand (70) and a stock roll storage shelf (72) vertically adjustable on the stand (70) to match the height of the storage shelf (72) to the height of a stock roll holder (19) on the conversion machine (12). A locking device (330) for selectively locking the storage rack (14) in relation to the cushioning conversion machine (12) and/or a catching device (400) for catching a spindle-less stock roll may also be provided.

摘要: A cushioning conversion machine and method for converting stock material into a cushioning product, characterized by a manual feed mechanism or assembly. The machine includes a shaping member over which the stock material is drawn to form the stock material into a three-dimensional shape and the manual feed mechanism draws the stock material over the shaping member. The manual feed mechanism may include a rotatable member for engaging and advancing the stock material, and an operator member mounted for reciprocating movement and operatively connected to the rotatable member.

摘要: A cushioning conversion system that converts sheet stock material into resilient cushioning product has associated therewith a stock roll support assembly, including a mount, a pedal, and a linkage assembly. The pedal is supported on the mount for pivotal movement about a horizontal axis from a raised position to a depressed position and a pair of laterally spaced apart roll lifter arms cooperate to support therebetween the stock roll for lifting the stock roll from the loading position to the elevated operating position when the pedal is depressed. A stay is provided for holding the roll lifter arms in the elevated operating position to support the stock roll for paying out material therefrom for conversion into the cushioning product.

摘要: A cushioning conversion machine and method employing a loading assembly that eliminates the need to manually thread sheet-like stock material through a forming assembly of the machine during a loading operation. The loading assembly and associated method are characterized by cooperating feed members that are located adjacent an upstream or inlet end of a converging chute. Upon actuation of an accessible operator member, the feed members are selectively engaged to push stock material through the chute and out the exit end of the chute for engagement by a feeding/connecting assembly which is at least energized during such selective engagement.
