According to the invention, the terminal client (101) comprises a distributed inbox client component (103) that is configured to synchronize all incoming and outgoing messages with at least one other client device (200, 300) that is associated with a user of a first client device (100). The terminal client (101) further comprises a connector component (104) configured at least as an interface between the distributed client component (103) and a network infrastructure (20) suitable for forwarding and receiving messages. With the terminal client (101) incorporating in client devices associated with a user, the user is able to experience synchronized chat in real-time and can further utilize a device independent synchronous messaging service anywhere and anytime.

    摘要: Multiple antennas used for data transmission and/or reception are also used to achieve omni-directional antenna functionality. Signals from the antennas are converted to baseband and stored. Phase shifts are applied to the stored signals to steer the effective reception beam in one of a number of directions. A process of interest (e.g., white space sensing) is applied to the beam to produce a result for the given beam direction. By scanning the beam over a number of representative directions, a spatial receiver range equivalent to that of an omni-directional antenna is achieved.

    摘要: A method and arrangement are proposed for controlling access by a client node to multicast traffic via an access network. When a client node sends a message to an access node of the access network requesting access to a multicast channel, the access node modifies this request by adding identification information to the message for identifying the client node before forwarding it to a router capable of routing multicast traffic streams. The router uses the identification information to consult access data stored for the client node and returns an acknowledgement message to the access node, indicating whether access is permitted. If access is granted, the access node streams the multicast channel to the client node. Modifying the multicast request message using the access node to include identification information allows the access control to be performed in a more centralized manner while retaining the security of a port-based access control.
