    摘要: A battery isolator for an electrical system that includes at least a first battery and a second battery, wherein a negative terminal of each of the first and second batteries are connected together at a ground point and a charge source is connected in parallel with one of the first and second batteries. The battery isolator comprises an inductor having a first terminal and a second terminal, a first switch connected between a positive terminal of the first battery and the first terminal of the inductor, and a second switch connected between a second terminal of the inductor and a positive terminal of the second battery. The first and second switches are selectively actuated in a predetermined manner, such that the battery isolator can be used to charge one of the first battery and the second battery. At least one of the first and second switches may be selectively actuated to prevent one of the first and second batteries from substantially discharging the other battery when a charge source is not present.

    摘要: A control for operating an electromagnetic machine in a starting mode of operation wherein the main armature winding of the machine receives electrical power from a controllable power source during the starting mode of operation, comprises a circuit for detecting a magnitude of a parameter of power applied to the main armature winding relative to a stationary frame of reference, a position sensor for detecting rotor position of the electromagnetic machine, a converter responsive to angular position indication for converting the detected parameter magnitude into field and torque producing components relative to a rotating frame of reference, and a circuit responsive to the field and torque producing components for controlling the power source during operation in the starting mode. This control includes an igniter for igniting a prime mover. Further, the control is operable during a first phase prior to ignition of the prime mover for causing the electromagnetic machine to provide motive power to the prime mover so as to accelerate the prime mover at a first predetermined rate, is operable during a second phase subsequent to the first phase so as to accelerate the prime mover at a second predetermined rate, is operable during this second phase for providing fuel to the prime mover to facilitate ignition thereof, and is operable during a third phase subsequent to the ignition of the prime mover so as to accelerate the prime mover at a third predetermined rate to a self-sustaining speed.

    摘要: An inverter controller adjust a selected switching pattern to accommodate minor variations and loads in the neighborhood of that pattern. Pulse width modulated (PWM) patterns are determined for a range of loads and link ripple. For a pattern in use having A independent switching events, an A.times.B matrix is computed, where B is the number of controlled harmonics. The matrix elements represent sensitivity of controlled haromonics with respect to individual switching angles .theta..sub.i. The elements are ##EQU1## where n is the harmonic number of the controlled harmonic and .theta..sub.i is an independent switching angle. An unbalance vector comprised of the Fouier coefficient of the controlled harmonics in the inverter output is determined. This vector is a measure of the goodness of fit of a selected pattern for link ripple and load variation encountered with the selected pattern. The unbalance vector is compared to a threshold, and if the vector is less than the threshold, the switching pattern is used without modification. Otherwise, individual switching angle adjustments are calculated by dividing the unbalance vector by the sensitivity matrix.
