Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a multifunctional strike indicator and slip bobber. The strike indicator comprises two hemispheres that may form a substantially spherical outer dimension around fishing line. The two hemispheres may fit frictionally together to prevent movement or slipping of the fishing line between the two hemispheres once assembled. The hemispheres may be disassembled to replace the fishing line, and reuse the strike indicator. The top insert and bottom insert compress around a foam sheet to form the spherical outer form figures of the two hemispheres. The multifunctional strike indicator may be used in a fly fishing, or traditional rod-and-reel fishing arrangement.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display performs a method that includes: displaying a phone call user interface on the touch screen display, wherein the phone call user interface includes: a first informational item associated with an active phone call between a user of the device and a first party, a second informational item associated with a suspended phone call between the user and a second party, and a merge call icon; upon detecting a user selection of the merge call icon, merging the active phone call and the suspended phone call into a conference call between the user, the first party, and the second party, and replacing the phone call user interface with a conference call user interface. The conference call user interface includes: a third informational item associated with the conference call, and a conference call management icon.
Abstract:
This invention relates to methods and apparatuses for creating a textured press plate by spreading ink over the press plate using a heater. Some embodiments provide a method that includes: (a) dispensing radiation-curable ink onto a press plate; (b) spreading the ink over the press plate by heating the ink; and (c) irradiating the ink so that the ink is at least partially cured and/or fixed, and/or such that the spreading of the ink is at least partially slowed and/or stopped. In some embodiments, the irradiating the ink occurs after the spreading the ink. In other embodiments, the ink acts to resist a chemical solution, and the method further includes etching a surface portion of the press plate by exposing the portion to a chemical solution, where the surface portion includes the ink, and where the etching the surface portion occurs after the irradiating the ink.
Abstract:
A probe is used to inspect the health of a corner radius within an elongate internal cavity of a structure. The probe is transported through the cavity on a carriage that maintains the probe a substantially constant distance from the corner radius as the carriage traverses changes in the cross sectional shape of the cavity.
Abstract:
A safety restraint system for a flow line for pressurized liquids, comprising a plurality of axially spaced flow line wraps each having end loops that are releasably connected to an anchor line, the anchor line being further attached at each of its two ends to a relatively immobile anchor structure, and each flow line wrap being removable from the flow line and from the anchor line without detaching either end of the anchor line from its respective anchor structure.
Abstract:
A method for generating softened injection water (A) (i) introducing source water having a dissolved solids content of up to 15,000 mg/liter and a multivalent cation content of greater than 40 mg/liter to a bed of cation exchange resin in monovalent cation form, (ii) passing the water through the bed so that at least a portion of the multivalent cations in the water are replaced by monovalent cations from the resin, and (iii) withdrawing the softened injection water having a multivalent cation content of up to 40 mg/liter; (B) regenerating the cation exchange resin by (i) introducing a regenerating brine to the vessel, (ii) passing the brine through the bed and (iii) withdrawing a brine containing displaced multivalent cations, wherein the brine is a naturally occurring high salinity water having a concentration of cations such that the Softening Limit for the source water is up to 40 mg/liter of multivalent cations.
Abstract:
Hydrocarbons are recovered from subterranean formations by waterflooding. The method comprises passing an aqueous displacement fluid via an injection well through a porous and permeable sandstone formation to release oil and recovering said released oil from a production well spaced from said injection well, wherein (a) the sandstone formation comprises at least one mineral having a negative zeta potential under the formation conditions; (b) oil and connate water are present in the pores of the formation; and (c) the fraction of the divalent cation content of the said aqueous displacement fluid to the divalent cation content of said connate water is less than 1.

Abstract:
In some embodiments, an electronic device with a touch interface detects one or more user gestures that correspond to instructions to vary the playback speed of a media file that is being played on the device. In response, the device initiates a variable rate scan through the media file, forward or backward. The touch interface can be a touch screen or touch pad.
