The present technology can improve energy efficiency by efficiently controlling the spinning speed of disk drives. It can also reduce data access latency by promptly spinning up a disk from a spun-down state.

The windings of the spindle motor are commutated based on a commutation sequence while applying a periodic driving voltage to each winding. During a seek operation to seek the head a seek length, an amplitude of the periodic driving voltage is adjusted according to a driving profile corresponding to the seek length, wherein the driving profile compensates for a power disturbance during the seek operation.

    摘要: To provide an optical disk device, an optical disk control method and an integrated circuit, which are capable of writing a recordable mark by changing the reflectance ratio of a reflective film formed on concave-convex pits without using an industrial special device or a high-power laser light source. A data reproduction controller (103) sets a first rotation speed in a disk rotation speed switching unit (108) and a first laser power in a laser power switching unit (107) when reproducing the concave-convex pits. When writing the recordable mark, a mark recording controller (104) sets in the disk rotation speed switching unit (108) a second rotation speed that is slower than the first rotation speed and the lowest rotation speed at which the concave-convex pits can be reproduced, and sets a second laser power greater than the first laser power in the laser power switching unit (107) in accordance with the emission timing.

    摘要: An optical disk apparatus comprising a reproduced signal detector which digitizes a reproduced signal from an optical disk, a broadband synchronizing clock signal generator for generating a synchronizing clock signal for use in reproducing data, a signal processor for processing signals, and a disk rotation controller for controlling the optical disk by switching control modes according to the reproducing position of the disk, that is, performing CAV control using the constant rotating velocity which is the same as the current rotating velocity in a range where the synchronizing clock signal generator allows a reproduced signal to be subjected to pull-in-synchronization, and performing CLV control so that the linear velocity is constant to minimize the pull-in-enable changes of number of revolutions in a range exceeding the pull-in-synchronization range, by which arrangement the amount of change of number of spindle motor revolutions when the reproducing position of the optical pickup changes is minimized, thus further reducing power consumption and access time. The optical disk apparatus comprises a selector to switch over the control systems, and area dividing means to manage the divided areas, and while switching over CAV control and CLV control, records data, and varies the divided areas or the number of divided areas in CAV control according to recording capacities, so that lower power consumption and higher-speed access can be realized.
