Abstract:
An elastic boundary wave device includes a first medium with piezoelectricity, an electrode exciting an elastic wave and provided on the first medium, a second medium made of a different material from the first medium and provided on the first medium to cover the electrode, and a sound absorbing portion provided on the second medium.
Abstract:
An optical disk apparatus and control method having a rotation driver configured to rotationally drive an optical disk, a laser diode configured to emit a laser light to be irradiated upon a recording surface of the optical disk, for recording or reproducing information onto the optical disk, and a monitor device configured to monitor the laser light emitted from the laser diode. An intensity of the laser light emitted from the laser diode which is detected by the monitor device is memorized by a memory, a detector detects an abnormal condition of the laser diode, by comparing a present laser light intensity with a previous laser light intensity, and a controller controls a rotating velocity of the optical disk in dependence upon detection of the abnormal condition.
Abstract:
At a reserved recording time, if a television receiver is turned off, then the television receiver is turned on, and a video of a reservation setting target channel is forcibly displayed. A content of a reserved program can be thereby checked. At this time, a mute control signal is output to a voice processing circuit to mute a voice. If a user does not transmit a volume change instruction for a predetermined time, then a TV circuit is turned off, and a reservation recording is continued. This can suppress unnecessary power consumption during user's absence.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus comprising: a document reading section that can read an image of a document; a document-type determining section that can extract, when the image includes a finishing mark or a characteristic form, the finishing mark or the characteristic form as a characteristic portion from the readout document image, and can determine, based on the extracted characteristic portion, a type of the finishing or a type of the document; a processing deciding section that decides, based on the determined type of the finishing or the determined type of the document, a type of finishing to be performed to a medium to be output or a type of image processing to be performed to an image to be output; and a processor that performs finishing of the type decided by the processing deciding section to the medium to be output or image processing of the type decided by the processing deciding section to the image to be output.

Abstract:
Surface acoustic waves are transmitted from a respective plurality of excitation elements to a non-piezoelectric substrate, and the surface acoustic waves propagating in the non-piezoelectric substrate are received by a respective receiving elements, thus a position of an object in contact with the non-piezoelectric substrate is detected based on received results in the receiving elements. An indicated direction is detected based on a reception level of surface acoustic waves in the receiving elements. A direction of a vector starting at the center of a range (contact range) in which a reception level is not higher than a predetermined level and ending at a position obtained based on the reception level is detected as a direction indicated by a user. The indicated direction can be detected even when the object stays at a position.
Abstract:
A plurality of excitation elements are disposed on two facing sides of a quadrilateral detection range in a non-piezoelectric substrate, and a plurality of receiving elements are disposed on the other two sides of the detection range so as to face the excitation elements respectively. Surface acoustic waves are transmitted from the respective plurality of excitation elements in two diagonal directions of the detection range respectively, and the surface acoustic waves from the two diagonal directions are received by the respective receiving elements, so that a position of an object in contact with the substrate is detected based on received results in the receiving elements.
