Abstract:
The invention discloses 3-ketosteroids of the following formula used to inhibit steroid C.sub.17-20 lyase: ##STR1## wherein R is OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkanoyloxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkanol, COCH.sub.2 OH, CO.sub.2 H, CONR.sub.7 R.sub.8, cyclopropyloxy, cyclopropylamino, acetylthioalkane, 2,2-dimethyldioxolan4-yl, 1,2-dihydroxyethyl and C.sub.1-4 alkylthiol;R.sub.1 is hydrogen, hydroxy or C.sub.1-6 alkyl;R and R.sub.1 together may indicate .dbd.O, that is an oxygen double bonded to the 17 carbon;R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are each independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl;R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each independently hydrogen or OH;R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 together may indicate .dbd.O, that is an oxygen double bonded to the 11 carbon;R.sub.7 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl;R.sub.8 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl; andwith the proviso that, when R is OH, then R.sub.1 is hydrogen; andwith the proviso that, when R.sub.5 is OH, then R.sub.6 is hydrogen.
Abstract:
A method and system for managing one or more high frequency service items associated with a device. A parent/child relationship between the high frequency service items can be defined to track replacement of components based on a service action related to a child component. A taxonomy of related service items and servicing functions can be specified in an XML document associated with the rendering system. The relationship between the high frequency service items can be indicated utilizing a related component indicator and a HFSI counter. A parent component can be replaced by a maintenance operator and an aggregate child component can be rebuilt by a service engineer in order to retain the component life thereby reducing down time and service costs.
Abstract:
Communication systems may employ transmission of feedback information and responses thereto, on a wireless connection such as a millimeter wave connection. The feedback information itself may be used to influence the beamforming or beam direction used for the transmission of the feedback information. A method can comprise determining a feedback indicator regarding reception of a transmitted waveform. The method can also comprise tailoring, for example beamforming, a signal for transmitting the feedback indicator based on a content of the feedback indicator.
Abstract:
An anti-flicker and anti-glow switchable load apparatus to be installed in the light socket of a commonly powered electronic switching device, such as a motion activated light switch. An energy efficient light bulb or lamp, such as a cathode fluorescent lamp or light emitting diode is then screwed into the apparatus. A first embodiment of the present invention includes a switchable light source, a switchable load, a controller, and a voltage sensor. When the present invention in the first embodiment detects a higher voltage, thus indicating the lamp has been switched from the “off” state to the on state, the switchable load is disconnected, and the current is re-routed to pass through the energy efficient lamp.
Abstract:
A removable puncture protective footwear insert with an insole with an orthotic shape that includes an arch support and a heel cup made of a cellular foam product, a multiple layer protective material where the layers are coupled together and held within the insole and a cushioning and shock absorption material that helps maintain the insole orthotic shape. The cellular foam product is PORON™ or ethylene vinyl acetate, PORON™ and ethylene acetate and the insole may be with or without a tile heel cup. The multiple layer protective material is a SWEN-FLEX® material LENZI EGISTO PS5 ES L-PROTECTION® material, or other puncture proof material. There are also two or more separate methods for manufacturing a removable footwear insert.

Abstract:
A method for managing communication in a system having a device in communication with a server via a communication path which includes gateway. A communication session is initiated by transmitting a request signal from the device to the gateway. The signal is then routed through the gateway, and the signal is then transmitted from the gateway to the server.

Abstract:
The invention provides a probe for an aircraft including a strut having an interior passage accommodating a plurality of pneumatic lines, a probe head extending from the strut and having at least one inlet opening communicating with the pneumatic lines, a baseplate situated below the strut for attaching the probe to the aircraft, and a manifold situated below the baseplate for communicating with the pneumatic lines, wherein the baseplate is adapted and configured so that the pneumatic lines communicating with the manifold are thermally isolated from the baseplate. The invention also provides a method of thermally isolating at least one pneumatic line in an aircraft probe.
Abstract:
A system may include an electronic messaging management application that may access contact information. The contact information may include information maintained by one or more system users. The electronic messaging management application may determine how to process an incoming electronic message using at least a portion of the contact information. The electronic messaging management application may determine whether to send a challenge-response message to a sender of an electronic message using at least a portion of the contact information.
